Washer and Dryer Cycle Times To Long?

I feel like a lot of newer normal cycles are just created around satisfying energy regs. It is good that your washer has a normal cycle that gets the job done and done well.

suspicion that i have (not a complaint)

My advice is go for either a used DD or a new TC5 Speed Queen. Keep the dryer if it is a Whirlpool. Whirlpool dryers in my opinion last longer and dry faster than Speed Queen dryers. I considered replacing my MEDC300XW dryer for years with a Speed Queen just because of the name until I came to...

    Whirlpool motor wiring question

Sounds like D2 isn't hooked up, or the door switch is not wired correctly. Not to sound like the one whose raining on your joy but you need to make sure everything is wired correctly. I miss wired or missing safety like a hi limit, centrifugal or timer contact could lead to a fire.

its rare to see a direct drive washer with suds return

My guess is it would look similar to this washer: Most likely the second rinse switch and second rinse allotments were converted into suds options and suds return increments.

its rare to see a direct drive washer with suds return

Wait, you can save the rinse water? A dream come true. I've always thought saving the rinse water made much more sense than saving the wash water.

Maytag Dependable Care Mixing Valve Flow Rate

Does anyone know the mixing valve flow rate on Maytag dependable care washers? It has been said they had a restrictor in them.

Improving Top Loader Washer Performance Via Intermediate Soaks

Give me an EM dial any day. I added two 5 min soaks to the 14 minute wash, looks better divided this way. Fill time might be to short depending on the water valve, as its allotted to 5 minutes.

Improving Top Loader Washer Performance Via Intermediate Soaks

So whats the reasoning behind that? Kind of cruel to the user, they add extra detergent and additives, hit pause thinking they can get a nice two hour soak only to find everything has been pumped out. I had that happen to me with a newer GE washer. I was livid lol.

Improving Top Loader Washer Performance Via Intermediate Soaks

Seems like Soak options embedded within cycles are becoming more of a thing. Interesting that they settled on 10 minutes being optimal, which is reasonable I think.

    new tide original scent

I like the smell of Tide Professional. It deodorizes and it leaves a very light chemical scent at the end of the cycle. 1 extra rinse and that light scent is gone. The clothes and towels smell neutral. No fishy smells, no metallic smells, no chemical smells, no cheap perfume smells, no hair...

Trace, refer to the wiring diagram, and know your terminals. A multi meter might help.

suspicion that i have (not a complaint)

I've long speculated that you need a new control board, or better yet a direct drive washer. No more sorcery.

Have you checked that your hoses are correct? Hot to hot and cold to cold?

    Whirlpool motor wiring question

Line two to neutral for 120 volt operation. In other words the terminal block wire that goes down the motor's centrifugal switch gets hooked to the incoming neutral. Wire that goes up to the timer gets connected to your incoming hot. At 120 volts you will get 1/4 the heating output.

    Kenmore Auto Temp

Yup, this washer is one of late 80s / early 90s direct drives. At this point Whirlpool had a serious and perfected product. These washers are known to last 20+ years average. Good spot on the wash basket, the hole pattern does look like that of a belt drive. I wish they still made these...

    Kenmore Auto Temp

Interesting. It looks like auto is a specific detent on the temperature dial, but unsure what it does when set to that point. Bob, did your 1986 Lady K have an ATC board? I never would have thought the hot would be regulated down in 1986.
