Washer and Dryer Cycle Times To Long?

I always sort my clothes according to color, and I have no issue with doing laundry. I'd rather use the correct cycle and temperature based on color and fabric type.

I sort by color, fabric type and soil level. I use the normal with heavy soil for the best level of cleanliness and an old school clean on the Speed Queen Commercial units here. When I used the LG or Kenmore Elite in Killeen, I'd use the normal cycle or whitest whites with whites.
Darks: cold water, normal cycle
Lights: warm water, normal cycle
Whites: hot water on normal cycle and whitest whites regularly if available. All with turbo wash when available as well.

Except you sound like you could get away with a one speed motor and continuous agitation. Am I right?

 

For me its as follows-

 

 

Whites, Towels normal cycle hot wash.

 

Sheets permanent press cycle hot wash

 

Colored sheets permanent press cycle warm wash

 

Causals, medium soils, everyday cotton clothes normal cycle warm wash.

 

knits and non bright delicates delicate/hand-wash cycle warm wash

 

Bright colored delicates, fad-able delicates, wool sweaters, knitted items, silk, lingerie, delicate/hand wash cycle cold wash.    

 

 

On thing I really wish I had was a warm rinse option.

Before I got my front load...and had a top load... the washer was always finished before the dryer... Now it's the opposite... the dryer is finished before the washer...but I've grown to be totally OK with that. Most of the loads I do are around an hour long... that's with heavy duty and extra rinse or whitest whites which defaults to extra rinse.. Both are around and hour and the max you could get is 1:10 if you bump up the soil level.. I have NO problem with that length of time to wash a load of clothes. I am sort of paranoid about a new washer taking longer than the times I stated above... I'm sure they're longer now than they were then...

I disagree. Modern detergents have enzyme cocktails. Take Persil Advanced Clean oxi+odor for example. That stuff takes a reasonable amount of time to get the stench and stains out. When I use the ultra pacs, I use however many pods are recommended. I'll use 3 in a top load Speed Queen Commercial on the heavy soil for a full sized load. Since it offers a deep rinse anyway, I complement that with Snuggle super fresh softener.
In my LG front loader, I could get a way with using a single pod on the normal cycle. On my dad's Kenmore Elite by LG, I would typically use the normal/casual cycle on most loads. I reserve the whitest whites for just that, whites. All use accelawash. On my mom's LG Tromm, I use normal cycle for everything. The only thing that changes is the temperature. My dad's Kenmore Elite takes 26-53 minutes due to the accelawash on normal/casual, while my mom's take 55 minutes on cotton/normal. The average load would take 41 minutes in the Kenmore.

Jerome, I have often wondered if top loads would clean better with a series of soaks and agitation, where the total agitation time does not exceed 10 or 14 minutes with soaks in between increasing the cleaning power without excess wear and tear on clothing.

Jerome, I came up with 2 cycles, though I think they both need to go back to the drawing board.

The issue however is that I can not determine how much soak and agitation time is enough for a regular cycle, particularity the total soak allotment. Let me know your translator isn't there, I can translate the cycles to text.

I completely agree. Too many people fail to realize what these so-called laundry "experts" are telling them are just bogus. It pains me to see people shove everything into a single load and expect magic miracles. Excuse me, but that's not how it works. I presort as I get ready for a shower or go to change clothes for the next day. Besides, the speed cycle is only meant for refreshing laundry. The normal cycle should be used for everyday laundry like cotton, linen, towels, shirts, sheets, jeans, and mixed loads according to my LG Tromm and Kenmore Elite models also made by LG. All I need is the normal soil level, which is a happy medium between light and heavy soils. Clothes come out just fine. I have said this a million times, and I'll say it again. Too many people these days are just too stupid to be doing laundry. They don't think to read the instructions and instead blame the machine completely.

Jerome, "everyday" clothes in that context refers to people who work office jobs and such. No grunge and heavy sweating. The Heavy Duty cycle surely isn't required, but the Quick cycle is a bit lax depending on the load size, those are intended for maximum of 2 to 3 items.

Well, the normal cycle is sufficient enough for my everyday laundry. Mondays isn't typically my laundry, but today just so happens to work out that way.

I feel like a lot of newer normal cycles are just created around satisfying energy regs. It is good that your washer has a normal cycle that gets the job done and done well.
