Nans zanussi FL853 has now broken..

It was quite worrying how it broke as it nearly caught fire What exactly happened? It could still be a simple fault which could be easily fixed. Matt

Perhaps I am somewhat spoilt In having nothing but vintage hoovers and hotpoints in terms of the shorter wash times, but even the most recent modern machine I had (a beko) took 1hr38 at most for a full length cottons 40 cycle, which was not that unreasonable! Obviously the 4 hour wash is not...

Dear me I just saw that wash time FOUR HOURS for a daily wash!!!!??? I do hope there's some kind of mistake there! Even if I can hold the claimed capacity of 11kg, some older machines could have washed as much as 32kg in that time (8x30 min wash cycles with a 4kg capacity). Amazing how a bit...

    A "Logical" Deal!

Great find James! Love the colour scheme! It's pretty much identical to my Grandad's ecologic, which we have owned since new and is my current daily driver. Very unusual programming on these energy control electrons rehashed as logics and ecologics, heating at both low level and high level on...

It is very pretty But think of the finger marks! Even in the advertising pictures the machine is covered in them, and as someone with bad dermatitis on my hands I constantly have to have moisturiser on them, so I'd spend more time wiping the washer down than It would cleaning my clothes!

Speed Queen 432 or 542 and partial drain?

FL enthusiasts are encouraged to compare notes Can it remove dried in and set blood stains with detergent alone in one wash everytime with no pre-treating whatsoever? One of my front loaders can do this in 35 mins from start to finish. For that matter, can it remove pretty much any stain no...

Lovely computer controls I didn't know anyone of us had one in black! Can I ask Mike is that the one what was on eBay a couple of years back with the badly worn off paint on the control panel? If so it's had a lovely paint job! Would kill for one of these myself! Matt

Fill Drum Only Three-Quarters? Is This The New Trend With Front Loaders

Fill the drum 3/4 Possibly the new thing on American machines, but from what I've seen the only similarity between most American and most European front loaders is they way you load the clothes, aside from that the American ones bear more resemblance to a top loader in terms of load sizes and...

    Beko WME7247: Poor rinsing

Longest wash If you are using the short programmes, it skips a rinse, so yes this will explain the issues you were having...

Daz, Persil, and Ariel detergents with a HE Samsung

Harder water While it is true that many parts of Europe have very hard water, many parts also have extremely soft water (like where I live). Detergent dosage recommendations take this into account and give doses for soft, medium and hard water. I would suggest if anything you will need more...

    Beko WME7247: Poor rinsing

Couple of questions to help determine what the issue could b First of all, how much detergent are you using? It may be that you are simply using more than is needed. Secondly, find out via the water board what your water hardness is. A lot of people think there water is harder than it is, and...

Any UK guys wanting something unusual for ya stash...

Medium water Plymouth (as with Durham), have about the softest of soft water you can get, not a single speck of limescale to be seen! Matt

Whirlpool FL washers accumulate mold, class action lawsuit says

Speaking from experience You can tell people till you're blue in the face to only use the correct dose of a good quality powdered detergent containing oxygen based bleach (or add some), use the hottest, longest and most vigorous cycle possible for the load you are washing, don't overload and...

Whirlpool FL washers accumulate mold, class action lawsuit says

I think that title should read "Clueless consumers cause mould build up in their Whirlpool washing machines." No offence but only in America would you get a lawsuit against a washing machine manufacturer because the owners don't use them properly. Reminds me of those people who tried to sue...

    RUMOUR MILL! (MIELE)

can you like get over the miele snob statement, it was a jok A bit of a tactless joke on a forum where anyone who has read a few posts will know that it is a controversial subject and is bound to provoke strong reactions. Lets not forget that inverse snobbery is equally as superficial and...

Study: If You’ve Got Asthma, Drying Laundry Inside Your Home Might Be Unhealthy

Article I was directed to the article a few days ago in the Daily Heil, when read 'between the lines' it's clear that all it is saying is that high indoor humidity (of which one possible cause is drying laundry indoors is one factor) can lead to damp and mould problems, and is therefore bad for...

Here We Go Again Folks! Miele Needs New Brushes

Health and Safety regulation Last time I saw a tech change a set of brushes he tilted the machine against the wall so that it was propped up standing at an angle! I would suspect a Miele would be just a little bit too heavy to do that though :-)

    Servis Coming soon

I've used a Vestel made Beko There is no such thing as a Vestel made Beko and never has been... As I'm sure you are aware many of us think very highly of Beko as a good value budget brand and would pick them over their more expensive rivals. If the quality of these machines is at all...

Here We Go Again Folks! Miele Needs New Brushes

Laundress I'm pretty shocked at the fact any repairman, let alone a Miele technician, would create such a fuss over changing a set of brushes! It's probably one of the most common reasons for requiring service on a machine like this and can be done in literally a matter of minutes! After all it...
