Well taken care of and looks nice but when that control panel dies, it becomes a parts machine.

My quick look up parts guide from the 1980's shows a different story. Probably wrong on my end unless Maytag engineered the newer motors to be backwards compatible. I'll scan later today.

That should be pretty easy to accomplish. The higher end 02's are getting tricky to find these days but are still out there.

And poor quality and reliability included?? That was already a problem with more expensive units, I have personal experience with that. Lets just say a 1970's GE range will be in my future.

Whirlpool had many different versions of spray rinses on their belt drive machines. I'm sure the ones that spray rinsed up to 7 pulses probably did a good job. The only decent rinsing DD's were the Ultra Rinse models. Otherwise, they were pretty stingy and required a 2nd deep rinse.

I assume it's one of those rare agitator mounted dispensers about the size of a GE FF. John posted one that was new in the box several years back. The cold/warm rinse switch was used through 1965 on the 700/702. Unfortunately, not on the 160/900/902.

It's beyond surgery, you need a new agitator shaft (good luck with that) and at least an upper sleeve bearing. I'd also take a good strong look at the splines of the agitator for cracks. A rusty agitator of that magnitude is usually from water seeping through the agitator splines via cracks...
