    Where are your appliances from?

My 1991 Filterflo came from my grandparents who bought it at Sears at the New Towne Mall in New Philadelphia, Ohio but my dryer came from Delaware, Ohio. My Frigidare chest freezer came from Sears Westland Mall in Columbus.

New refrigerator needed-help and advice appreciated

I currently have a Frigidaire top freezer and while I've had to glue two shelf brackets back together, I've never actually experienced a functional problem with it; my parents have a Whirlpool top-freezer model that seems to be more studily built than my Frigidaire but neither fridge has...

Washer and Dryer for sale (GM Frigidaire)

From Columbus Craigslist Dryer: Color is green. Works great. Washer: Color is white. About 1 out of 10 times the knob gets stuck and won't continue. Other than having to fiddle with the knob once in a while, it cleans great. $50 for both. Looks like a GM Frigidaire dryer...

    My Grandmother's Old Clock

I have a 1949 Revere R-913 electric mantle clock with a similar movement. The rotor was sealed from the factory and had oil in it. It dries up with time. Mine would slowly lose time and sounded like it had marbles in it. I took the movement out and oiled it with fulcrum oil and ended up oiling...

    Spic-n-Span

I buy it at the local Ace Hardware store although I buy Cinch spray more than I do Spic and Span. The new Spic and Span does have a very strong scent.

    Trivia Question: Extra Rinse Switch

My 1992 Filterflo with the extra rinse that is a part of the "Extra Clean Cycles" does pause like Paul recalls.

    Kenmore Compact Electric Dryer

A match to what I think is a 24" washer. Don't think I've seen many of these, but I'm not sure. Saw it on Craigslist today. It looks like it's almond, too. Tony http://columbus.craigslist.org/app/3152550937.html

    Bread Machines vs Washing Machines

I would say that it was likely that appliances shared parts with washing machines. Case in point, my GE 12 cup percolator has a Filter-Flo. Granted it's not exactly the same, but it does have a Filter-Flo.

Thanks, guys! Yeah, that Kenmore dryer is not quite a match to the GE but it works so well that it doesn't matter much to me that they aren't the same color or brand. I did notice how similar they looked right next to each other. It's nice that they were only two years apart. I was very...

Thanks, Tim! Your posts about your Spotscrubber-Hotpoint conversion were extremely beneficial when it came down to tear in to this bad boy. I studied those pictures extensively. The receipt stated that the washer was purchased in January of 1992; I think from what I have seen that this was one...

It had some gum melted in on the drum but a little goof-off made quick work of that and she's ready to go. The drum was not as blue-tinged as I would have expected, either. Now I know this post is quickly becoming rather long-winded, but it has a purpose (somewhere, at least.) I want to say...

It wasn't very pretty and it was in need of cleaning, but I got all the lint out and changed a seal around the filter tube and plugged her in. Quiet and very powerful. It worked far better than the GE ever could have. It even had an end-of-cycle signal.

So I set out to find a dryer to go with my "new" Filterflo. It had a 1975 big-load GE with it, but it was gas, didn't work very well and wouldn't fit past some custom shelving that had been installed in the 80s, so I set off to find a dryer. I know that the general opinion of the masses is that...
