    Which Iron would you Recommend?

Wish I could recommend Rowenta. I've had 3 of them through the years, they all leaked and I didn't think they were all that. As a sewer, I have bought many irons and need something with good steam and a higher wattage. I have three, a Bernina steam generator, a Bosch and a Krups. I really like...

Phosphate-Free Cascade Complete Gel: Let The Tests Begin!

Adding to Launderess' observations. The environmental impact of many of those phosphate replacements is dubious.

Phosphate-Free Cascade Complete Gel: Let The Tests Begin!

I have a package of the phosphate free Quantum. Did a lasagna dish that was in the oven twice and in the fridge for a couple of days, in my Bosch on Auto Plus. The tabs cleaned very well. I had a glass head pin size spot on the handle of the dish, everything else was spotless. I was shocked...

Remember when radio had personality? CKLW!

Petek, I have listened to WRIF since the 70's off and on. Agree CKLW wasn't on the decline by then. Also listened to "Honey" Radio WHND.

Remember when radio had personality? CKLW!

Thanks for posting! I grew up listening to CKLW. I remember as a kid camping in the backyard with the next door neighbours listening to the transistor radio, most likely tuned to CKLW. Then WABX FM on my brother Marantz Hi-Fi, one of the best rock and roll stations I've ever heard.

    "Frigidaire" as a common noun

In our household, bleach is called "Roman Cleanser", from an extinct Detroit brand. Cleanser has always been "Comet". Stain spray has been "Spray and Wash" since it was introduced in the seventies.

Dishwashers in general, particularly top loaders

We had a GE Power Shower when I was growing up, in the seventies. I remember having to bend quite a bit to load the bottom rack. I think Bob's recommendation to sit is a good idea. Also a good idea for unloading the dryer. I generally recommend icing for clients, who have injuries such as...

Vintage Fairy washing up liquid Bottles

I hope our local importer brings these in. I remember the bottles from living in Essex in the late seventies, as a teenager. We usually used Sunlight, but Fairy on occasion. There was only one scent. Ah the wonderful memories, thanks for posting.

There are many many many many Matics but only one Finish QuantuMatic

The shop I saw them in didn't have the dispenser in stock, just the refills. $14 for three. I noticed that our version was phosphate free. Wonder if the UK version is? That would explain why Reckitt isn't worried about shelf life.

    Persil!!!!!!!!

When using Megaperls in my Bosch, I use 45ml for average loads and 65ml for heavier soiled loads. Though, to prevent a suds routine, in all towel loads I only use about 35ml. This translates to Soft water, light and normal soils. My water is between 7 and 9 grains, depending on time of year...

    Playing Stupid Hospital Games...

Matt, My partner has come across many of the same issues while helping his mother in Flint. What healthcare system are you using? My partner's mother is in the McLaren system. Being used to Ann Arbor's system, we've found it challenging at best. I would suggest speaking with his case manager at...

    Nice coppertone appliances

Appliguy, Agreed, it could very well be. Just relating my experience of the Oakland Co. area, which I grew up in during the 60's into the 70's. Todd

    Nice coppertone appliances

Given the area these are located and the age of the appliances. My bet is that the cooktop and oven were a builder's choice and the fridge was purchased by the new homeowner. From a time when people moved their appliances and most new homes either came with only cooking appliances or nothing...

    Snow in North Carolina!

My parents in Hendersonville, in the mountains of Western NC have at least 8 inches on the ground. Here's a photo sent to me this afternoon out the kitchen window. Quite impressive. Glad it's not us!

    Cheer - Bright Clean Anyone?

I spoke with PG shortly after the introduction of the "Bright Clean" labeling. I wanted to know if it now contained OBA's like the HE formula. She told me that the liquid's do in fact contain OBA's (not sure about the dark formula), the powder formula is unchanged and does not. I also noticed...

ugh, i need a new bf!

I agree, Listen to your gut. It's seldom wrong. No one should have to put up with abuse, verbal or otherwise. He's just trying to compensate for his own confidence and self worth issues. Good Luck, You will find the right mate.
