8 Reasons Using Liquid Detergent Is Better

I wondered where Ivory is being made now that SBSC has closed. If anyone is wanting to open a soap factory, it's for sale or lease. I go past there frequently.

    KitchenAid whisper quiet set.

Nice set. My cousin Melanie had a similar set in white. The washer got knocked over when a runaway car crashed through their house.

1959 Frigidaire Will Not Stop Running

John, thanks for the explanation. Mine, of course, is manual defrost. It was used mainly for pop, and it kept it quite cold.

1959 Frigidaire Will Not Stop Running

"how much their Frigidaire refrigerators ran" John, I have a 1947 Frigidaire refrigerator, and when it was being used it didn't seem to run excessively, despite a less than perfect door seal. It is also very quiet. Was it later models that ran a lot?

    Jacobs Launderall

Maybe they'd get more interest in it if they would add towel bar handles and promote it as an "Epernay" washer, like Lucy sold to Fred and Ethel.

1974 GE Hotpoint Range -Drawer Liners?

My mom lined the bottom storage drawer of our '53 Westinghouse with either white butcher paper or a piece of fabric backed vinyl wallcovering. Since heat rises, it's not a problem below the oven.

1963 Westinghouse DBD-30 dryer in MINT AQUA!

Drum finish I can't say for sure, but I think the '63 model we had was a painted finish. Unless porcelain enamel was chipped or otherwise damaged, it wouldn't rust like that.

The greatest thing since sliced bread?

Eddie, that's exactly how I do it for round cake pans. I always do it when making a German Chocolate Cake - I just peel the wax paper off each layer. I also used it with rectangular and square pans when I want to remove the cake from the pan.

    Coppertone Brown GE (Americana) kitchen.

Very nice! When I was a kid our kitchen was painted dark blue, but my parents had it painted nearly that same shade of yellow when I was 11, and it stayed that color until I pulled down the walls to make that area the living room. Daltile has a color called "Ocean Blue" that may be a close...

    ~2015-19 Jeep Renegade...

I drove one last year as a rental after my 2012 Ford Escape got wrecked. It was OK, but used a lot of gas for something so small. The load area was REALLY small, so didn't hold much. I had driven a Nissan Rogue for a few weeks before, and it was somewhat better, but load area also too small. Was...

Inglis TO-41001 Commercial Belt Drive Rebuild -A few questions-

Nice machine for a coin-op. Did it come out of a washateria, or some place like an apartment building? The lid is unusual, as it appears to be one like on a Kenmore, but opens to the rear like most other Whirlpool machines. The majority I've seen have the handle at the front. My cousin Diane...

The greatest thing since sliced bread?

I rarely use wax paper; sometimes I have lined the bottom of a cake pan with it. Baggies - I remember the first time I ever saw them. It was when I was in first grade, and we were having a Christmas party at school. The night before, my friend Fred's mother brought over some cookies to give my...

120v Point Of Use Water Heaters

I was in the storage room today where the little water heater is located. I looked at the rating plate, and it is a 6 gallon 120 volt model.

120v Point Of Use Water Heaters

The one in the link is the tank type, and we have one about that size at the place I work. It serves two washbasins in the restrooms, and two laundry tubs, all within 15' of the unit. Seems to serve the purpose well. I don't know if it operates on 120 or 240 volts. There are tankless point of...

    1970 GE bottom mount

My cousins got a GE bottom freezer refrigerator in Oct. 1973, and it was Shaded Coppertone. It was purchased from Rike's in Dayton, OH. I remember this because I was at their house when it was delivered, and I remember the younger son Robbie was 14 at the time. Possibly it was leftover stock if...

all original 1970s home set to be demolished

Central Vacs These were very popular in new homes in the Cincinnati area back in the 70's and 80's. A major reason for this was that NuTone, a top manufacturer of such units, was located here. Nearly every house at the annual Homearama model home show featured them. Now I hardly ever see them...

    Two Pairs of Frigidaires

I'm surprised that the Honey Beige color wasn't more popular, as it's really very attractive. The home-ec room at the high school I attended, which was built in 1966, had a Frigidaire range in that color.

A 20 year old dream turns into reality

Very well done! That's one of the nicest I've seen. I've always said if you're going to do it, you may as well do it right, and you certainly did. I really like the house, too.

    1964 Turquoise Kenmore 70 Set

Those are really nice. I always have liked the Whirlpool/Kenmore Turquoise.

    Turquoise FF?

I figured when I saw that range and refrigerator it was in either a mobile home or cheap apartment. My sister had a range that looked similar but Avocado in an old MH.
