cool!
That Philips packaging looks kinda ~ 1986,about when Philips took over Westinghouse bulbs :) After first liking them,i now hate most LEDs and have swapped back to incandescent and even CFLs in some applications...As bad as indoor LEDs often are,I really hate the wanton misuse and...
Never washed with one...
...but have brought 5 home to evaluate and/or junk: first encounter was an early one back about 2002-had the early Italian made vortex drain pump.other 4 have been within last 5 years and all were 1999 vintage with Hanning vortex pumps.on one of these the aluminum...
"Ask the man who owns one"
I have one from around 2008-2009 that is in semi-regular use:still going strong-it is the mechanical timer version with the fluted plastic basket.Cheaply made, but has been doing what is supposed to since i got it new, smashed up in shipping accident, for $50 in 2009 :)...
Nifty fifties :)
Should be a nice running Packard motor in there and the pot metal pumps had 4-blade main impeller for a little different sound sucking air when drain completed.
they had wash water recirculation/spray-my VMW Bravos does not.Two PM wet rotor pumps underneath, bigger one for recirc.I was finding a lot of these at the dump around 2018-19,would take the BLDC pancake motor off each one i found(to repurpose for other uses) very easy to take off these motors.I...
GM yellow/amber/orange LED display.
shade seems to vary some on those, some getting close to a proper orange, but starting amber at the chip for sure.Certain early 1980s Pontiac radios had red LED display and i have noticed HP logo on these GM Delco displays.Noticed true orange LED diodes about...
LED colors
You missed yellow/amber :)
first came red, starting around 1968 for certain aerospace and commercial uses and then consumer products about 1975.
pale green LEDs started about 1975 i think, consumer products a couple years later.
yellow/amber around mid 1970s
orange seems to be rare,but...
Dishwasher fires
I just got done watching videos of dishwashers that had arcing or fire incidents and was suprized to see some well respected brands involved...Looked like these all were caused by "arc fault" short in the door when water got into line powered connections or PC boards...An AFCI...
My 3 marathon SQs,1982 and 2x 1984, have taller agitator shaft with 6-sided conical drive block at top,so subject washer may be more mid-80s.Console style is very similar to my earlier machines. That agitator drive is similar to 1990s design GEs
The Neptune...(is a great machine)
In my experience at least the Neptune is a great washer-with a couple nits...
I bought mine,a'98 3000,in need of repair about 2009:had classic wax motor/blown control board problem. This problem was heat pellet of wax motor getting damp it it's position right...
the Westinghouse and GE motors could be varible on how well or long they ran-besides the bad motor(may have gotten it it;s upper bushing) in the '75 westy, have a '77 MT dryer with one and just motor from a 1980 3-belt: motor from that 3-belt runs really nice. Some square GEs run good, others do...
cool.
-wish i could reach into that photo and grab that motor to stick in my '75 westinghouse that has bad motor-upper bushing shot. That pump started on the westy washers around 1973 or 4-before that pump was a dual section black bakelite turbine pump.In that white pump is impeller with 6...
off subject.but...
...good washer listening is my '82 Speed Queen "Marathon":No-nonsense-water of whatever temp you set flows right in and agitation that sounds like a couple bearded woodsmen sawing a log with one of those double handle saws begins:steel clutch belt idler rattles a little,motor...
Thanks for that link...
...now i see how the"sycro-swing" mechanism works-back in '83 only had about a 30 sec.look because there was a front-end loader busy pushing debris into the burial pit and this washer went in a couple min after i left it-this one had an unusual design Delco motor that...
