POD 13/02/2018 - Lady Kenmore Dual-Action vs competitors bib-cleaning comparison

One exception of a feature that put Whirlpool above Kenmore was their Knit cycle with a cool-down, whereas Kenmore just had it set on the Delicate cycle on the 8-minute mark.

    Another GE find

"LID UP PREVENTS SPIN ACTION", but not agitation act I had neighbors who had a GE washer from that c.1969 era. I remember that it continued agitating with the lid open, as told in the upper left part of the lid instructions. What year did GE washers first stop agitating with the lid open?

    Kenmore washer-letters question!

I've seen an alphabet cycle Kenmore in a 1975 catalog, so apparently that was the last year of those.

    POD 02/02/2018 - Sears Kenmore 11651 centre-dial 2-speed washer & 61651 dryer

With the cycle label 'COTTON/STURDY', this should be between 1981 and 1986.

    Favorite Vintage Appliance Designs?

Pre-1976 Kenmores, especially the 1966-74 Kenmore "piano keyboard" panel. One of the most elaborate of cycle option assortments.

    2 Speed Washers

According to I've read in the Sears catalog collection in ancestry.com, Sears in 1955 was the very first washer brand to introduce the two-speed washers. The cycle was originally named 'MAN-MADE FABRICS'.

    Yesterday's Pic of the Day

Kenmore cycle dial placement I believe it was in 1972 when the Knit/Delicate and Permanent Press cycles switched positions.

    Kenmore type font

Does anyone know the name of the specific type font on Kenmore laundry appliances from c.1965-2000? In 1981, the lettering was more condensed (narrower) when the NORMAL cycle was renamed COTTON/STURDY.

    DD KM/WP washers occasional spin-draining

It seems that most 1990s-2000s top-loading Kenmore and Whirlpool washers are more likely to start high-speed spinning while draining, if the agitation is speed is set on low or extra-low, whereas while on high agitation, it will more likely stay neutral, unless the lid is opened then starts to...

"Ya know, Every Now and Then"....(in my best Tina Turner Voice)

Whirlpool cool-down sequence history So did Whirlpool originally have about the same cool-down sequence as the second Kenmore version described above? When did they switch to the pause method? In c.1973, they introduced the KNIT cycle with the single-staged cool-down, as opposed to the...

"Ya know, Every Now and Then"....(in my best Tina Turner Voice)

Kenmore cool-down sequence timeline First version (1958) - Alternating drain (high speed?) and fill, and on some models, pause at the next timer notch. Second version (1964, along with the 3-speed models) - First notch: low speed drain followed by simultaneous fill and low agitation. Second...
