I bought a Filter Flo Set!!

None of the sounds that I described should be any cause for alarm, including the clutch chatter. I've had my Filter Flo since I bought my house 15+ years ago... the clutch chattered then, and it still chatters now. My younger brother had one that the chatter was louder than the motor itself...

I bought a Filter Flo Set!!

Hey joeypete, congrats on your Filter Flo set! The loud clunk sound at the end of the spin is definitely normal, as this is the brake engaging to stop the tub. If you let the machine fill with the lid open, after the fill has completed, push your finger down on the lid switch, and watch the...

Yes, it appears that the timer's run motor is not working. I'm not sure if you can change just that motor itself, or if you'll need to replace the entire timer. Quick look on Ebay, and there is a used one listed for $39.99 w/ free shipping...

    Suberba by Hobart problem

Good that the drain valve is working again, but not good that it is stuck on prewash. It sounds like one of your timer motors is not running. These timers have two motors-one which runs through the full cycle and advances the timer once every minute or so, and another to rapidly advance the...

    Suberba by Hobart problem

Also, the float is a normally close switch that is wired in series with the inlet valve. It will only disconnect power to the inlet valve when the water level gets too high and opens the switch.

Sounds like it might be the drain valve. Normally when these dishwashers drain, you'll hear a loud snap as the valve opens. If you don't hear the snap, then it's possible that the valve isn't getting power from the timer, or the valve itself is defective.

    My version of a KitchenPool

stevet, if you're going to do that, I think you should forget about adding the drain pump and figure out a way to tap into the wash pump and add an 18 drain solenoid, so you can keep the classic "snap" at the start and end of the drain. :-D I'd still love to try swapping out a timer from one...

Kitchen Aid Portable Dishwasher (KDI-57) won't drain

When you say "ends abruptly", do you mean the main wash motor just stops? Do you hear the drain valve opening? The valve makes a fairly loud snapping noise when it opens.

    kitchenaid kdi 18 smoking away

I'm wondering if there is a more serious problem, as that blower shouldn't be running or getting power at the start of a cycle?

Wish I could afford the asking price, as it is only a couple of hours away from me, but I guess I'll have to stick with my 0519.

    Hello Again, and well.......

Yep, the sani heater kicking in is a great sound... sounds just like a kettle about to boil a pot of water. It surprised me too on my 18 when I heard it the first time. Sounds like you are having fun!

    Hello Again, and well.......

Nice pics! If you really want to add the heated dry to your 19, I believe it can be done. Stevet is the man that can tell you for sure, but I think I remember reading here somewhere about somebody who did so. Make sure that your water is hot, that the dishwasher fills to the correct level...

    Hello Again, and well.......

Welcome back Twintubber... good to see you again. I believe, and someone will correct me if I am wrong, is that the way you can tell it's a 19 is that it was the only model to not have the heated dry as stevet mentioned... KA brought it back with the 20 series. So the "No Heat Dry" cycle...

    KDS 17 leaky intake

I believe the timer should continue to advance and the pump motor should be running the whole time. Are the cycle indicator lights illuminating?
