It's a 1970 model as this has the metal door handle. This was advertised and featured in an earlier thread along with its matching washing machine. The last report in that other thread said the pair was sold. I guess the buyer only took the washer.

Interesting. It's definitely got the Whirlpool brand name on the console and the sideswing door, but the console resembles a mid 70's Kenmore. Also the dryer top and lint filter are Kenmore-esque. A true hybrid of styles.

I remember seeing this model out on the curb in June of 1987. I recall the lint filter being plastic, but I thought it was the maze type.

Two Blasts From The Past: So cool. My aunt and uncle in Virginia bought the dishwasher on the left in 1974, which I think it was in gold. They bought my grandparents the dishwasher on the right as a Christmas present in 1976, and that was in stainless steel.

1966 Model 70 set. Beautiful. A neighbor had the exact dryer, also in gas. The dial lights up on both.

Re: Reply # 33 Yes, that is early 1970s. Although I have seen it before as a 1972 model, the one in the photo has the hidden mercury switch which was last used in 1970.

I am guessing this is a 1969 vintage. We had the next or after-next model down from this in gas.

These are 1970 500 series models, one from each of the two groups of 500 models offered that year. Both 500 series groups from 1970 looked very much the same, but were distinguishable by color differences on the escutcheon where the cycles are laid out, and more noticeably on the dial skirt...
