Consumer Reports: Tide Ultra HE Plus Bleach (powder) Rules!

I stopped buying SA8 after 10+ years when a reformulation several years ago (and before the olive "Legacy of Clean" packaging) started irritating me and the boys after no problems at all before that. It really was good before but I can't abide the itchies. Same thing for Tide Pods more...

Happy Friday everyone. That calls for a drink....might just have to make one of these tonight!

    Miele Professional OctoPLUS Models

Are the Little Giant capacities any bigger than the W3033 and its companion dryer? I.e. are the drum dimensions larger or are they rated for heavier loads due to beefier components? Boil wash capability would be nice, I admit...

    Miele Professional OctoPLUS Models

Expensive, but you're right - sort of in the same league as the Little Giants (only bigger.) The electrical requirements could be a big lift, though - aren't they 2 x 240v or something like that? But at least they have a drain pump model washer so you don't have to jackhammer up your concrete...

Recent opinions on F&P Aquasmart / Aerosmart

liberator, thanks for your comments. Your comparison to a FL was especially interesting - stuff occasionally gets tangled in our Bosch FL but it is usually the longer sleeves /leg items, so I'm sort of used to that. And your observations about lint were also helpful. I've often wondered...

Recent opinions on F&P Aquasmart / Aerosmart

Well the washerdryerinfo.com site is an interesting one. They seem to be very scientific with all their test strips and measurements, but then when you go to look at the actual stain removal results they would say "really good" when it looked just awful to me, or "as good as brand X" when it...

    Aggravated again

I'm pretty sure they make segmented anode rods (with flexible joints) so at least next time around you can replace it even with a low ceiling w/o having to haul it outside.

Recent opinions on F&P Aquasmart / Aerosmart

Well I managed to disassemble the back of my Nexxt dryer and reset the high-temp switch, which brought it back to complete working order...for about 2 days. Now I think it is starting to develop "Dryer Dementia" since it refuses to heat about every 3rd load, but works perfectly the rest of the...

Dang - Bosch Nexxt dryer no heat!

Well, got back from vacation only to find that our Bosch Nexxt dryer isn't heating on any cycle (but tumbles/blows and shows no faults on the display)! The general consensus according to Google seems to be to take off the back panel via the 900 screws holding it on and try to reset the...

    Maytag Maxima Front Loader

Are any of the Maytag / WP FLs in the US true horizontal axis machines or are they all tilted? IIRC the older WP Duet Sports were, but now I'm not sure what is and what isn't....

Speed Queen / Huebsch W/D Wishlist

Ditto (tritto, quattro?) on the heater for the Imperials. I never understood why their clearly ToL units didn't have a heater while the less spectacular looking white ones were available with one?

Speed Queen / Huebsch W/D Wishlist

220v heater would be nice, but even a 120v one would help. I'd sum it up as "guaranteed wash temperatures". 220v would allow for hotter cycles in still reasonable amounts of time.

New energy efficiency standards for washers and dishwashers announced

Let me take a step back and play Devil's Advocate here with a question - how do these NEW standards compare with the existing UK/EU requirements and ratings? Is the US "leading" here in terms of low energy and water use still catching up (but not there yet?) If we're not way out in front then...

Miele EXITS US Large Capacity Marketplace!

Wow - didn't see that coming, especially after they just introduced the IntelliQ stuff north of the border. I wonder if this means they'll bring back the 240v machines? If they could run them off a "buddy" outlet on their electric dryer like Asko & Bosch do they'd get past the biggest hurdle...

Opinions on the early Maytag Neptunes

Ah, the Neptune. "The machine that killed Maytag.", as I would like to title my book about it (if I ever write one.) We were so excited to leave our GE Profile TL W/D when we moved in 2001 and bought a brand new Neptune set for the new house (the teeny pushbutton version.) We loved the...

How to Load a Dishwasher and the detergents to us

gansky1, The hard water we have around here has been a real curse since since phosphates were phased out. I tried adding STPP and that helped, but it never seemed to be as good as the pre-ban formulas. When our KA finally tried to catch fire and died we replaced it with a Bosch that has a...

    Lime scale In Washer-Dryer!

I know that manufacturers have, for years, made dishwashers with built-in water softeners. Has anyone ~ever~ made a washing machine with a built-in softener? It doesn't seem like it would be that much to ask to have to refill a salt reservoir a few times a year in order to have top-notch...

Only took a day or two from when The Oatmeal posted that as a "challenge" to when this was made. It is brilliant, although it'll take quite some time before I can get it out of my head....
