    AEG Spin Dryer 4528

@Aprily78: You should share the model number if you really want useful information. There are a lot of people here that could probably answer any question you could ask. But since your original post said, "Greetings from Yank Land", I'm inclined to believe you're not sincere. I'd like to be...

    Speaking Of Wascomat/Laundrylux Crossover W&D

Interesting link, but they seem to be a little light on the kind of information that people that buy coin-op and OPL machines would want to know. Speed Queen has a couple of versions of programmable owner control - Quantum and something else whose name escapes me. In any case you can buy a...

    AEG Spin Dryer 4528

@Aprily78: As Launderess pointed out, operating a motor designed for 50Hz power will spin 20% faster on U.S./Canadian 60 Hz power than it was originally designed for. Spinning a dryer drum faster than it was intended might well affect tumbling action. Faster isn't better... Is it a gas...

    AEG Spin Dryer 4528

AEG is not a common laundry brand in the U.S. There are probably more Maybach cars in the U.S. than A.E.G. laundry machines. I can't really think of many AEG-branded products ever being sold in the U.S., except for maybe a series of light duty hammer drills and other construction power tools...

The New HE Toploader Is Now On Frigidaire's Website

@mrb627: I'm not so sure that a see-thru door on a dishwasher would be that good of a thing. The dishes are static in the racks, so you'd just see the water getting sprayed around. It just wouldn't be as interesting as seeing clothes roll and flop around like in a washer or a dryer. Plus, we...

The New HE Toploader Is Now On Frigidaire's Website

@rapunzel: Urine is slightly acidic for the most part, although the pH can vary in a healthy person based on time of day and so on, but only maybe +/- 0.5 pH from a neutral 7.0. So, it wouldn't be useful as a laundry alkali. If the pH were high enough to be useful for cleaning, our kidneys...

    Speaking Of Wascomat/Laundrylux Crossover W&D

I wonder if that seller is an authorized dealer so that the buyer would get factory warranty. One odd thing is that in the first photo the washer door appears to be hinged on the left but the dryer is hinged on the right. Usually dryer doors can be reversed, but the pic is just a little...

    SQ FL vs Miele 3033

Does anyone know the preferred brand of laundromat equipment in the EU? Or Oz/NZ? Just curious, because SQ/Alliance seems to be the dominant player in the U.S. and I was wondering who has that role elsewhere.

    SQ FL vs Miele 3033

There's no better advice available than from the person that has owned both. I'd just point out that the Speed Queen Imperial sells for a significant premium over the standard white Speen Queen front (AFN50F) and rear (AFN50R) control models. And they are the same machine inside. So, if you...

    Calling All Gearheads

I would snap that thing up! I used to use a similar machine in a soil mechanics lab. And that was a lot harder duty than any kitchen. It might need some TLC, but changing the grease in the gearcase and adjusting the paddle to bowl clearance is pretty simple.

Speed Queen gas dryer help please

@kenmoreguy89: My understanding of the U.S. code requirements that natural gas piping be done in threaded steel or "gastite" piping are corrosion resistance, fatigue failure issues, and joint quality in concealed areas. I think you might have a gas delivery issue rather than a problem with...

Speed Queen fron the laundromat to the home

I believe the coin-op SQ top loaders are rated at 14 lb capacity, so they are probably talking about front-loaders in this ad. But a person could probably buy a brand new 18 lb SQ front-loader with coin mechanism for under $2,000. So, the real question is paying 25% of new cost for a used...

Is There a FL Washer Available in the U. S. That Heats Wash Water to 206 F?

@tomturbomatic: I'm not really bothered by high wash temperatures where they are appropriate for the fabric. But like lots of other things, like spin RPM and drum capacity, there seems to be a prevailing thought that "More is more better". The same thing happens with home theater stereo...

    Lard

@mixfinder: I'd like to respond in more detail and hope to do so tomorrow. But I think we might agree with the concept that a person in a metropolitan area ought to show proof of having harvested an animal before they're allowed to throw a pack of shrink-wrapped meat into their grocery cart...

Is There a FL Washer Available in the U. S. That Heats Wash Water to 206 F?

Yep, arilab, if more temperature were better, then the Europeons would be building pressure-cooker washers like Colonel Sanders uses to cook chickens. 206F wash at atmospheric pressure (29.92 in Hg) is nothing compared to 350F wash at more pressure (like 45.00 in Hg). Hotter the better, until...

Is There a FL Washer Available in the U. S. That Heats Wash Water to 206 F?

Are you sure? Surgeons wash their hands in water that's about 100F, and they can have their fingers in parts of your bod that you probably can't even name. More isn't always better, especially when the thought process only covers one variable. Temperature, time, agitation, detergent efficacy...

    Lard

If a person were really concerned about trichinosis, they would stay away from venison - and pretty much all other game. Anyone that's ever shot a deer has seen how many ticks and other insects they are infested with. Current guidelines for cooking pork are 145F to be safe. Hamburger is...

Does cold water washing cause mold?

@DirectDriveDave: Good Point. You are correct - we run the machine, unload it, and there's still a bunch of moisture left in it, even with the rinse aid and using the dry cycle. But we keep the door shut and latched. No funkosis that we know of.

Is There a FL Washer Available in the U. S. That Heats Wash Water to 206 F?

What is it with the thought that to get laundry clean it has to be boiled? Does that come from the African tribes that used to boil bones and skulls to make wartime garb? What would happen to a pair of Levi's at 206F? Would they shrink, or do you buy two sizes larger to compensate for what...

    Flour Question....Robin Hood

Vitamin C is ascorbic acid, not citric acid. Please explain how potassium bromide "strengthens" dough. Extra credit for explaining how potassium bromide causes hypothyroidism, though. Even more extra credit for explaining how Linus Pauling got spanked for claiming how Vitamin C would fend off...
