A mini Wash-In to be held

Thank you, Jon! For hosting another great wash-in, and all who helped. I think we all had a great time and showed Bill Geist and CBS what washer collecting is all about. Here are a few pics of the event, they are of the interview portion, I tried to stay out of the way when they were filming...

Corrosion Repair: Maytag Dryer Pilot Access Panel

Remember when--- The gas company said to keep your pilots burning all year? They said the small bit of heat would prevent rusting of an appliance.

    Classic supreme

Loose screws? Look for loose screws on the brackets that hold the DW to the counter top. If the screw backs out of position it can keep the door from closing fully. I have repaired this problem many times on KA built DW's. Jeff

    LG Front Loaders

LG parts As an independent appliance servicer, LG will only sell me parts at retail prices. Tribles, my local parts supplier, can't get LG parts. Until this changes I will not be servicing any LG appliances, this includes LG made Kenmores. Jeff

Whirlpool Duet ~ "Fixed Suds Error" Video

When I added the recirculation pump to my Duet washer, I opened the drain trap for the first time in 13 years and found it to be very clean. I have cleaned many traps for customers that looked like the one in the video. Jeff

'57 GE Combination Fridge: The Physics of Frost?

Freezer temp----  "The fridge's only cold control's sensing tube clips to the serpentine coil in the fresh food section.  I don't think the freezer temp has varied much but regardless, the freezer temp has no influence over the cold control."   The refrigerant flows first thru the freezer...

Vent seal trouble on the WP PowerClean

You may want to check that insulation at the bottom of the inner door panel after running to see if it's wet.  It looks like it's very close to the normal water level of that DW. I would keep any insulation 2" to 3" from the bottom edge.

whirlpool point voyager vs. filtration dishwashers

"Take it out, flip it over" This is why I won't service a Bosch or Miele dishwasher. With unhooking the water supply, drain line, and electric, then getting it out from under the counter, then having to reinstall, you can add about an hour to the labor charge. Almost all major repairs to a...

    First Westinghouse Laundromat

Testing so far- Motor won't run and smokes, taken out for repair and testing. The transmission was stuck in spin mode. I took the rear cover off the trans. and found almost no trace of oil inside. With a little oil got the shifter freed up. Will make a new cover gasket and replace the rear...

    First Westinghouse Laundromat

The washer is in great shape for it's age, so I think we will be able to make it run again! We can't find a model number tag on it and wonder if it could be an L1. John and I have never seen anything like it!

    First Westinghouse Laundromat

The drain pump is driven by the single belt, and is controlled by a solenoid that moves a roller to push the belt into contact with the pump pulley.
