    Help! Melted Caramel!

When you say "in the console", do you mean literally? If so, it's more likely the stash was accumlated by mice or other pests, not the owner. First thing I'd try is a heat source (heatgun or hair dryer etc) along with a putty knife. Heat the entire spot before starting to pry, enough to soften...

    Bounce Sheets with "Manly" Scent

WD40 Cologne houses have been trying to bottle the smell of auto mechanics for the last 30+ years. :) One of their secrets is that many keep clothes dryers/washers in or close to their garages.. ;)

    Bounce Sheets with "Manly" Scent

Aramis Let us know what you think, but it was a loser when we tried it. In fact we haven't had much luck with any of the heavier colognes (Drakkar Noir etc). Especially the more chemical/artificial scents, they don't seem to hold up to dryer heat very well and it's pretty much 'Kim Kardashian...

    The buzzards will swarm soon

"Say goodbye to Sears as we know it." Already did, about 10 or 15 years ago. Around the time the company stopped accepting phone calls to their stores for stock checks and presales info.

    Bounce Sheets with "Manly" Scent

Good cologne in tiny amounts + dryer heat = something wonderful. Bad and/or too much cologne + dryer heat = yikes.

    Bounce Sheets with "Manly" Scent

I've known about the spritz of cologne on a dryer sheet trick since college. :) The nice thing about doing it yourself is having control over the scent, and amount of it. Try the Creed colognes (Silver Mountain Water is wonderful, Green Irish Tweed and Santaal are also great, Giorgio Red for Men...

THIS HAS TOTALLY FREAKED ME OUT

Not quite following the logic.. Everyone should be forced to be monitored at laundromats 24/7 because one idiot demonostrated the power of natural selection?

Speed Queen TL: 542 vs 432?

I agree with the 542 advice. It's one of those things where once you have the extra capabilities you can't imagine doing without them. But if you've never had them or learned how to use them you'll have no idea what you're missing. We use it all the time, in fact we don't even run cycles other...

Just WON: Brand new Speed Queen TL washer!

There's nothing exorbitant about Alliance's profit margins. I think it's not so much that their products are overpriced outside our country, as much as substantially underpriced inside it. E.g. we paid under $700 for their TOL TL in '06 and even back then, it must have been something very close...

Just WON: Brand new Speed Queen TL washer!

Very cool. Are SQ washers really selling for $2000 USD in Australia, or is that just the prize amount?

Good time to buy a Speed Queen

Marie, the general rule of thumb quoted on this site is that your highest water level should be somewhere around the top row of holes in the washer basket. You shouldn't have any sloshing issues except in extreme cases, e.g. trying to wash one large pillow instead of two. :) To answer your...

Good time to buy a Speed Queen

Yes. It's a little more complicated but still only a 10-minute job. Details were generously provided by AW member thefixer a few years ago (see link). It has saved us a ton of washer checking, wear on the timer and scratchy and/or stinky cottons. :) The posted directions are to run a jumper...

Good time to buy a Speed Queen

I've never run into locktite on this adjustment nut in SQ washers. Or if it's present, it's not enough to hinder movement of the screw. Totally agree with the idea of compiling SQ hacks and tips into one place. Would save lots of searching imo.

Good time to buy a Speed Queen

"Also, is it common for the dealership to adjust the water level too maximum fill if the customer asks for it?" No harm in asking, and if they say no it's an extremely easy DIY adjustment.

    Out with the red...

Orange or even red is one thing, salmonella bubble gum pink is another imo. Even the Brady Bunch went with orange in the 70's. :) Maybe the camera's white balance is off and the counters were in fact red? If the color is accurate there's definitely a reason it was paired with white cabinets...

What is your Favorite Detergent/Cleaner Scent?

Jonathan, have you tried Charlie's Laundry Soap? The powder not the liquid. I think you'll like it. http://www.amazon.com/Charlies-Soap-Laundry-Powder-2-64/dp/B00AM16MZO

    Freaky Deaky Induction burner

Obviously the bottom burner really likes the top burner.

Annoying squeak stopped on SQ AWN series

I'm not quite clear from the description/photos, are you saying the noise is caused by contact of the motor mount screw and this lever (circled in photo)? If so, I'm wondering if shaving a bit off the screw end would prevent the noise.

What is your Favorite Detergent/Cleaner Scent?

" Why do people insist on changing things that are fine just as they are, " Blame it on marketing departments, and I agree completely about scented Tide. We threw out a $15 box of it because we couldn't handle the smell in our laundry room. Tide Free (unscented version) is pretty good imo though.

    Out with the red...

Fabulous job imo. All that's missing in the before photos is Ann B. Davis. :)
