Bounce Sheets with "Manly" Scent

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I actually bought a box of Bounce For Men and tried it...the scent is not bad at all. I used it on sheets and thought it smelled nice. The odd thing is that the scent in the box doesn't smell anything like it after its used in the dryer...if that makes any sense??? I found it at my local Stop and Shop and they are the only ones carrying it around here.

From the consumer reviews ... Old Spice Pure Sport Scent

"It has a great masculine scent like P&G's other product Old Spice Pure Sport body wash, soap, body spray and deodorants."

Maybe they will have Terry Crews in the TV ad for this too? :)

I've known about the spritz of cologne on a dryer sheet trick since college. :) The nice thing about doing it yourself is having control over the scent, and amount of it. Try the Creed colognes (Silver Mountain Water is wonderful, Green Irish Tweed and Santaal are also great, Giorgio Red for Men (NOT the women's perfume named Red from the same company :). If anyone has other specific recs I'd love to try them.

Typical....

....P & G mis-reading of consumer trends to fit their corporate biases.

The current management of P & G is hell-bent on adding strong scents to all of its laundry products. It is becoming obvious from posts both here and elsewhere that this is not sitting well with many consumers, particularly men who see no reason to go around smelling like Kim Kardashian on a hot day.

What many of us miss is the "smell of clean" we grew up with - the freshly-laundered scent imparted by old-school products like Tide, Wisk, Oxydol and Cheer in their midcentury formulations. This trend is becoming apparent enough that not even P & G can ignore it.

But the "smell of clean" is not a perfumey stench, and that stench is what P & G wants to push. So, we guys get Old Spice Pure Sport Scent instead of the neutral "smell of clean" we miss.

Bottom line, P & G: Right church, wrong pee-yew.

Good cologne in tiny amounts + dryer heat = something wonderful. Bad and/or too much cologne + dryer heat = yikes.

Cologne

I like Dolce & Gabbana "By man" Sadly it’s no longer made. :(
I also have been known to use a spray in the dryer.

Aramis

Let us know what you think, but it was a loser when we tried it. In fact we haven't had much luck with any of the heavier colognes (Drakkar Noir etc). Especially the more chemical/artificial scents, they don't seem to hold up to dryer heat very well and it's pretty much 'Kim Kardashian on a hot day'. :)

Axe isn't bad. Haven't tried it in the dryer, though. Generally I'm just fine with clean.

A scent that approximates line drying... or the aroma after the first rain... that would be interesting. Not a big fan of the flowery dryer/fabric softener scents.

Ugh ...

I hate following some fool in the laundry room who's used these stenched-up laundry products in the machines I'm using.

It's so strong the residue is picked up on my own clothes and bed linens, and for the next week I have to endure it.
