How are you coping with the new dishwasher detergents?

don't see the fuss everything in my area has seemed to be non-phosphate for awhile now. I scrape, throw the dishes in the machine, usually run pots & pans cycle (Kenmore UltraWash). Sometimes they sit a couple days and get dry and crusty before I run them. Usually use Finish powder, and its...

    Detergents

Saw Foca and Ariel today I was in a neighborhood latin american grocery getting some spices. There were at least two different kinds of Ariel, and 1 kind of Foca. They were in bags, $6.99 I think, and I believe made in Mexico. Might try some later.

    Admiralpool Update...

I'm not inclined to believe it My clothes are often pretty linty with this machine, whereas I did not notice it so much with my Norgetag. I take a lot more care now to make sure only like-fabrics are washed together. I am rather new to this site, but I was thinking that the neutral drain might...

    Lets talk quality ranges!

Brown, "elderly/handicapped" WRT the above posting about Brown ranges. After perusing the online catalog, I can't discern the difference between their regular line and their "elderly/handicapped" offerings. Anyone have any insight?

    Lets talk quality ranges!

24" I had an apartment in college with a 24" Caloric gas, and it was really good. Could put out some serious heat. A friend remodeled his condo and got a black 24" gas Premier range. Anybody know anything about them? Except for very cheap plain models, 24" ranges are hard to find it seems. I...

    7-UP cake!

"Watergate" cake Somewhere I have a recipe for a cake my grandmother and aunts used to make and I have made and it turned out well. It involves 7-up, as well as a fluffy frosting made from Dream Whip and instant pistacio pudding. It's green and looks vile quite tasty! I want to have a 70's...

    deodorant stains

I think I found a good treatment! To clarify, I'm referring to antiperspirant stain, yellow and gross, particular on summer's white garments. But in this case it is not built-up and hard and crusty. I had a box of Biz, that I had used a few times as a laundry additive, and was generally not...

    deodorant stains

Yes a gross topic. Sorry but I could not figure out how to search archives for this. What is the best way to remove this? I have a nice white Lacoste woven collared shirt, and I don't want to bleach it.

The biggest hypocrite in Washington gets busted...

off topic, but Indiana I attended a lecture with Bill Hudnut who was mayor of Indianapolis for many years, and a congressman briefly. Great guy, and a little bit of a crazy-old-man thing going on, but a real hoot and a lot of fun to hear speak.

    All Oxi-Active

Haven't used it yet, but it was on sale plus I had a coupon, so only .99 for a bottle! At that price, it should at least work well-enough for lightly soiled laundry.

    Philco Dishwasher..!!! LOOKIE!

Looks like Kenmore we had when I was a kid, circa 1979ish. It was the narrow one (18"?) Doesn't look like it from the outside, but the racks, wash arm, and floater all are like I remember

name of GE Range that cooled?

well i sorta thought it was a neat idea, but way expensive and not worth the potential complications. - I could occasionally use the extra space for fridge duty. - and much like the effect with a crockpot, I like the idea of coming home to a hot casserole in the oven waiting for me.

name of GE Range that cooled?

What was it called? I remember it a few years ago. Could put in a chilled casserole, keep it cold, then set a time-on for bake. No particular reason for asking- just something that popped in my head and I can't find the name of it.

    Green Products

white vinegar and baking soda Can clean most things around the house. I'm a convert to vinegar-based window cleaner, vs. ammonia based. Murphy's oil soap is simple and biodegradable and I've used it for a lot of things. For me its not so much the green-ess, but the fumes and the smells. I...

    A/C blowing chunks

i have the same issue With the Frigidaire AC in my bedroom. It's either dirt, or mold. Every month or so I will find chunks laying on the floor in front of the unit. This happens although I thoroughly clean the unit at least once a season, and I regularly turn it on hi and douse the intake...
