    Regina Electric Broom

Ergorapido I have an Electrolux Ergorapido. LOVE it. I haven't seen an Electric Broom in years, but my parents had one when I was a kit and I remember it being a noisy dust machine. The Ergorapido won't win suction contests, but I use it almost daily, and it is so handy because it is cordless.

    New Air Conditioner Time

shopping again I got a Frigidaire LRA067AT7 6k BTU early this season, and I'm not crazy about it. Despite various high ratings, it is noisy, the compressor engagement/disengagement is too abrupt, and experience with other Frigidaires leads me to believe it will eventually become a mold factory...

Creating your own lint filter for modern washers

I would love to find a solution. I hang-dry a lot of my clothes, and even though I sort fabrics, I still end up with a lot of lint on clothes. Often lint in the tub left from prior washes.

Shaving lather cream/paste.... and mug shaving soaps.

ladies products I recently switched to using shaving gels intended for ladies legs. My dry skin seems to like it better, as a bonus they're generally a few cents cheaper. Also, many of the men's "unscented" products I tried still had a soapy smell, and listed "fragrance" in the ingredients. The...

    Fridgidaire fridge confession and question

Not China I think its made in Mexico but I am not sure. There are just too many physical similarities. Curved front door, same dimensions, similar design and location of all controls, compressor, interior light housing design, etc. Too many details are identical that they can't be related in...

    Fridgidaire fridge confession and question

My fridge bit the dust and I somewhat reluctantly got a Frigidaire 20.5 CF top freezer model LFHT2117LB. Long story short, I want a bigger fridge, and until I fully remodel my kitchen I can't get anything bigger. The space is limited to 30" wide, and comparably-sized Whirlpool and GE models are...

Garments made of Cotton Holding Stains

I second Biz Good stuff. Follow the directions to make a paste, let it try. Works very well for me.

Latest Consumer Reports Ratings Of Washing Machines

CR reviews I have been steered wrong by them one too many times now. The last disaster was a printer that was a "best buy" and a hassle from the get go. All CR really does is a feature comparison, which I can do myself. They don't really test longevity, or add much info about customer service...

COZI tv New cable channel showing Ozzie & Harriett

"Easy on your eyes and your mind" Funny tagline on their website, and fitting. Channel 4.2 on broadcast in the WDC area. I actually miss the programming it replaced, "Nonstop DC", which had live restaurant, food, and entertainment programming. They covered local events, and one interesting...

    Corelle Dolphins?

LOVE Corelle I was insulted once by a guest that I had Corelle. Ok, maybe I shouldn't have served a guest with it, but it was a very casual dinner, and I was a poor young homeowner. At least daddy wasn't paying my rent like his was. Anyhow, I ditched the Corelle (it was my mom's don't know the...

Repair of a Panasonic Inverter Microwave

great post I don't understand anything you did, but I just wanted to add another voice in favor of Panasonic microwaves. I have had mine for maybe almost 10 years now. I've considered replacing it because although it works perfectly, the interior is wearing a bit and paint is coming off in one...

    Pumpkin Pasta Sauce

pumpkin pesto Google for recipes for that. Pumpkin, nuts, sage, parmesan cheese. Good stuff.

End Of Another American Food Icon - Hostess Bakery Shutting Down

yuk Cupcakes and Twinkies: Too cloyingly sweet, with a sickening aftertaste. Wonder Bread is/was an abomination. I won't miss them. Now if Tastykake and Little Debbie start to go under I'd be concerned.

Though I would share this pic

grandmother's dresses My grandmother always wore simple cotton print dresses that she made herself. The one I remember most and liked the best was a multicolored pattern of little pairs of scissors! In her spirit, I have kitchen aprons that I made out of wacky cotton prints bought from...

Another home fix (plumbing)...fixing rather than replacing

Price Pfister "The faucet was Price-Pfister brand, it was what the builder used when the home was built. The faucet easily screws off from a connector in the wall. Just needs Teflon tape. There is a plastic O-ring which forms a tight seal between fixture and wall." A few months ago I had...

Someone Was Looking For Gain Laundry Detergent Powder (HE)?

Family Dollar Last place I bought some. Its not that difficult to find.

Do any of you know bicycles?

Bike Shops Long story short. Go to a few bike shops and shop around. Get measured and fitted to the correct size bike for your height and weight. Ask for test rides and see what is most comfortable for you. What you are looking for is now known as a "hybrid" or sometimes "urban" bike. A simple...

    It pays to conserve electricity.

"I'm pretty happy with the results, although with winter coming I'm sure this will come to an end." I actually hang more in the winter probably. I use racks indoors, and the indoor heat is so dry, it helps to humidify the air, and it makes the house smell like fresh clean laundry!

Consumer Reports rates all purpose cleaners

Mean Green They didn't test it, but Mean Green is made by CR Brands, and I think Family Dollar and places like that have it. For me it does a really good job around the kitchen. I use it on the stove especially- does well with greasy dirt. Also sometimes use on countertops, and to clean the sink.
