I love these

So beautiful. I have black appliance in my kitchen. My laundry room needs a makeover, and I'd love to design around these machines.

Hope she had bad rinses............all these years. :-)

I read that these elite limiteds have some parts that are NLA...oh well, love never came cheaply. :-)

First ad long gone; second and third links active

While we wait for the answer on the first link to the Elite's....

the other links I posted are not pulled and are active...The Darkness Calls

All you guys are always talking about seeing working washers at Sears or some other store. The only washer I ever saw working was one time at Sears when i was a kid. It was a wringer machine with a clear tub so you could see the clothes swishing around. That was it, never again.

The models I always see on display are never plugged in or have water attached to them. If you ask about the machine the saleperson just tells you what it does, you have to use your imagination.

I think these machines are older that 6 or 7 years old. Try about 15-17 years old.
I mean, they are just straight direct drive machines, right?

OLD

Some of the last lighted consoles I believe...I'd jump on these - they're classics - part procurement would be a challenge. I see a few members here, who own the Elite series - how do they like these?

Same experiences as you -only once did I see a washer working or a dishwasher. My strongest memories are idiot salesmen/women at Sears who devalued the machines, in a hurry to make a sale-not fair to say, there were good people, I just never ran into any.

Can anyone identify the years? I'm guessing late, late 1980's or very early 1991. I alway admired these special editions and Lady Kenmores but I was never a washer connoisseur to speak with any knowledge.

The Sears store we frequented in a nearby larger town in the late 1960s and early 1970s always had a LK pair connected to water and power, sitting prominently at the endcap of the appliance section, which was immediately at the right on the main aisle at the front entrance.

I'd guess 1995-96 on these.
If they are DD machines, parts should be available. But parts for the console would be NLA.
When I bought my TOL Whirlpool Electronic set in 1993 the salesman tried to steer me away from it saying "Those electronic consoles give out all the time.", but I persisted. Then when I had a drive coupler repaired the repairman told me "These electronic consoles give out all the time" even though my set was the first he had seen.

So one would think that with so many of these consoles going out on people there would be an adequate stock of parts for these control panels. Basically it's one computer board and a touch sensitive board. That's it. BTW, my console has never caused me any problems at all!

Read: Thread 2502 -Golden Age of Washers

Hi Whirlcool - thanks, I just read, for the first time, your comments in Thread 2502...from 2005 and your Whirlpool is still working, seven years later! That's Whirlcool. It's not worth wondering why your console electronics lasted this long, but think of all the variables, that could have made the repairmen's negative comments possible? Oh well, I am thinking now...thanks for speaking up!

Electronic Controls

Well, down here a lot of people don't have laundry rooms, but have their washers and dryers in un air conditioned and unheated garages. So moisture is a problem for the control panel problems I bet. Our washer & dryer has always been used in indoor areas.

So far the only problems I have had with my washer is that the agitator dogs have been replaced twice ($20.00) and the motor needed to be replaced. That's all we have done to it. The clutch is getting kind of slow on the spin and we already have a replacement clutch for it ($15.00). I'll install both parts next year. But this machine has really lasted and lasted with minimal upkeep. The dryer BTW has never had a problem. It still has the original 20 year old drum light in it. The only thing we do to the dryer is about every 3 or 4 years we take the cover off and vacuum all the lint out of it.

BTW, a few years ago Dadoes asked me if I would sell the set to him if/when we decided to upgrade/change out our equipment. So he has dibs on this set. I didn't forget. But he may have to wait a long time for it!

Hey Guy's...

When I use to go to Sears I have seen water in top of the line in the 70's and 80's.

The black ones had coloerd chips in the models posted here and was turned on,

with the chips whirling around to show rollover and different speeds.

The last model I have seen in Sears Live was the calypso washer which was a demo dry run.

That was IT.

Now it is a ghost town..in that department.

My friends who are a couple have the pair here which was my first posting in 2007.

And they have my name on them when they get another pair hopefully.

But they are still in great condition with one repair which was the dog legs in the agitator.

I have had it stick once or twice when on the electronic panel, but they have never had

a problem since they got them in the early 90's and still going.

As you can see they put everything on the top of the machine and of course they dont spray it to keep it nice.

Resulting in scratches & dullness on the panel.
