Father puts child inside FL washer

Only two facepalms? Pierre, I would say it is no proof at all that a front load washer is unsafe for kids. The only proof you see there is someone who does not think before acting - and that's nothing to do with FL or TL washers. You don't like them, that's fine, but don't act as though a...

    WHAT is that noise?

I too have never seen a motor explode when run without a load, and have seen repair engineers do this to test them. Sounds like the one you had, Rob, had a fault on it.

    ebay May 2012

Some nice machines, but just a thought... wouldn't it be better to keep one ebay thread, rather than starting a new one each month, and just start a new one if the old one got too long? I think the April one was only about 60 posts or so and was still active yesterday certainly.

    The Creda/Electra Mission.

Electra At the time, Electra was the brand of the Electricity Board stores (e.g. Seeboard, Scottish Power, Norweb, etc.) and their machines were made by a variety of manufacturers. I can remember ones by Philips, Hoover, Creda and Antonio Merloni. Later, I think the brandname may have been...

The New LG TrueSteam is here!

@glenfieldmathk1 Like Pedro, I have no desire to get into a big debate, and I certainly had no intention of coming across as bullying. Sure, I can be blunt about things, but that's just the way I write sometimes. I apologise if you felt bullied by my comments, it was certainly not intended...

Or you could go for one of the John Lewis branded Electrolux machines that come with a 3 year warranty on them as standard.

The New LG TrueSteam is here!

Xenophobia Mat - I've now seen a couple of posts from you which seem to be deliberately idiotic or provocative to the point of xenophobia. It's unpleasant, and I find the way you write about the Chinese in this post to be mildly offensive to me - let alone what it'd be like to someone from the...

Bosch Washing Machine is broken - will not spin

When you say the motor went into life, what do you mean? Did you hear it turning? Was there any metallic noise with the bang, or any smell at all? A belt snapping might hit off the side of the cabinet, but wouldn't normally make a bang sound as I would call a bang. I guess you could take the...

The last designs il post on here..i bet everyone is tired of them now.

I disagree Jacob... ... I think that a decent mechanical timer machine would last better than the electronic ones, and actually, I'd quite like a newer version of older Miele/AEG/etc machines where you select starting point, temperature, options on a couple of dials and then buttons. I would...

    shopping in currys

I agree with AquaCycle and Ronhic - there's no need for the size of machines the way they are these days. People buy them because they are there, and sometimes because they have to have the shiniest newest thing around. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, each to their own, but I...

hotpoint and indesit warning wmf wml washing machines

Beko seem to have a better rep than Hotpoint for washers, while Hotpoint have been trading on past rep for years. They may well be getting better again now, certainly reports indicate that the newer ones are better built. Anyway, if the machine was dented on delivery, I'd have rejected it...

    Hotpoint Washer Exploded

If it were me, I would be tempted to put in writing to Indesit Group that you don't feel the machine is equivalent spec to the one which failed, as it's louder etc. IMO, they should be doing all they can to get you on side, and if that means throwing a more expensive washer at you, then so be...

The last designs il post on here..i bet everyone is tired of them now.

Qualin makes some good points, and all things that are worth considering when designing. A few questions on the machines that I would ask, if they were real and I were looking to buy them: - What's the panel in the bottom of all three machines that looks like a filter on the washer? - What is...

    Zanussi FLA1001W

Also... Motors sometimes have something called a triac - or a motor control board - that can go faulty. Do you hear any noise? Does it turn when completely empty? Does the drum turn freely when you try to turn it by hand?

    Zanussi FLA1001W

The PCB could still be faulty if it is not turning. A capacitor holds electric current and is used to provide the 'kick' to start the motor running. See link below for lots more info... :) http://lmgtfy.com/?q=what+is+a+capacitor%3F

    A new Zanussi dryer...

ariston4life - curious as to why you think it's a Haier/Vestel unit dressed up as a Zanussi. Looks same architecture as Zanussi dryers have been for years, to me. If it is made by someone else, and I don't think it is, then they are using Electrolux architecture for it.

    Gaggena dishwasher's any good??

Gaggenau are part of the BSH group, so unless there's a difference in the US, their dishwashers will be very similar to Bosch, Siemens, Neff. Usually pretty decent machines, in my experience.

Servis brand to relaunch in UK

Did Vestel ever make Bosch machines under license, 'cause those bear some resemblances to earlier Maxx machines in design?

    My bosch dryer maxx 6

Recent BSH dryers (don't know when this was started) are uni-directional. They pause, but do not reverse direction. In my experience, it doesn't cause problems and there's no more tangling or balling of duvet covers and sheets than there was in my previous Electrolux machine.

How to remove a drum from a Hotpoint 9524?

If it's in a thread about restoring the 9524, then anyone who is interested (and/or has answers/help/support for you) will be reading the thread anyway :)
