Not the best machine available, for that kind of money you could try a Bosch, but if you want a Hoover, get a Candy instead as they are better

get a beko 9kg washing machine BEKO WMB91442LW, its great value for money and a lot better than hoover dynamic.

Looks like a nice machine. Seen a few reviews where some people have had problems. Thats the only negative. The 8kg drum on this isn't as big as some competitor 8kg but its worth a try.

well go for the zanussi jetsystem then, but personally if i only had 300 to spend (im not saying its your budget) i would go with the beko, because i used to own a zanussi jetsystem made in 2001 and the machine ran flawless unil it reach to its 4th birthday when the control boards started to malfunction bearing started going, the pump started going, plus these days the new zanussi range are very cheaply made no better than a hotpoint, from a personal opinion

If you're spending under £300 then i'd probably have a Zanussi. I certainly wouldn't be getting a Hoover. Their older Nextra's and related Candy's (badged as Activa Smart) were ok but the Hoover Dynamic, Vision HD & Optima and Candy Grand O's are far from floorless. Many owner reviews state them being delivered with programmer faults, which is just unnacceptable given that they're not usually a particular bargain.
Beko are ok but if we're talking longevity there's nothing to suggest a Beko would outlive a Zanussi, quite the opposite in fact. Beko make most sence as a bargain machine for under £220 - the more expensive ones add extra options & programs or spin speed & drum size, the increase in price doesn't mean it's a better built Beko than the cheap ones.
That Zanussi ZWH7122J is a good price, especially from John Lewis with a 2 year warranty. Not sure if the 1200 Jetsystem gets the quieter inverter motor - the other motors can be abit grumbly - but i'm sure 7kg & 1200 rpm is ample for most people.
The only other make i'd suggest is Gorenje. Made in Slovenia & often available with 5 year warranty's in the UK, but i dunno if this extends to Northern Ireland. They're available in smaller independant retailers rather than Comet, John Lewis etc.

I'd avoid the Hoover if I were you. There are better things to spend nearly £300 pounds on. Just have a look through ebay at how many broken recent models there are. Usually quite a few. Bearing failure and pcb failures usually. Hoovers used to be quite strong on bearings like the Six range, Nextra and Candy Smart range but seem to have lost their way. No way of replacing the bearings either.
Spend the £299 on something with a 2 year plus warranty as well. As above, John Lewis Zanny or something along those lines

As an extremely happy Candy-Hoover customer... I can confidently say that that's would probably be my next model of washer.
I was encouraged to go for another Candy after the positive impression made by my Candy dishwasher in 2003, so... when I needed to replace my Zanussi back in 2004 I considered this brand once more. I couldn’t get a Candy then I bought a Hoover Nextra. Back then there was exactly the same negativity from some about this brand... but I ventured into it and I ended up with many years of peace of mind and trouble free service (which is still ongoing for both dishwasher and washer).
There's a general trend involving cost cutting with all manufactures... and a tendency to build 'disposable' products... yes, I am referring to sealed tubs as some1 has already mentioned... and some brands even integrate the drain pump within the tub. I guess, one day in the future rumours will adjust to something like... "Hoover Visions/Dynamics were good washers, but today Hoover bakes rubbish!".
There are lots of reviews on many review/appliance sites and the ones I've seen resemble closely to praises and words of satisfaction (some bad ones too as for any other product)... still... all of these reviews must be taken often with a pinch of salt as people write them only after a few weeks of ownership (how telling can that be?).
As for eBay, I don't see neither Hoover or Candy to be more present than Hotpoint, Indesit, Zanussi, Bosch and so forth... try to search for washers for spares and repairs or faulty washing machines and you'll see what I mean. But even that can be misleading... all these brands are the most popular around here and you’re bound to find them on similar sites.
Having said that, please do your own research... I wouldn't want you to get a lemon and blame me for it

From an owner of a 25 year old Candy fridge freezer (now at nanas) I do take the same look as Candy as you do, but maybe not with as much gentleness as you do
I was eying up the Candy Grand'O GOF662 in a local family independent store, seriously considering it as the Bosch WF02865GB/01 we own at the moment has started rumbling, which has been identified by a fellow member as bearings.
If it is bearings, the insurance company won't fix it as it has already had 1 repair this year, for a new motor and brushes! Plus its an unworthwhile job, they quote, and have been told through local repairmen.
Also, I will be glad to see it go, its very boring to watch, hardly any water used, almost always unbalanced.
But, if you want your new washer to last as long as your Hotpoint WMA37 did, a Zanussi or a slightly cheaper John Lewis machine will do the trick, just avoid the Flexidose model, as they are made by Little Swan in Hong Kong/China.

Not all the Flexidose models are made in China. Mine, the ZWG7160p 1600rpm is made in the EU - so that could be Italy or Spain, most likely Spain. The ZWG1140M is the one that is made in China and the it hasn't done bad on customer reviews either. The ZWH6120P is made in Thailand and I know someone who has one for over a year and is used daily and not had any issues with it.
Just because something is made in China or Thailand doesn't make it inferior as most of the nations favourite electronics are made in the Far East and are reliable enough. The motors in Indesit washers are made in China and are just fine.

We got ours for £280 at Christmas but its gone up to £369 now. but otherwise are a good buy but as others pointed out, the John Lewis range are good. I like the look of this Hoover machine & am curious myself as have never had a Hoover, but I dont need to buy another machine. You might be quite happy with it if you decided to get one

I recently started to educate myself on parts, build quality, and repairing of the modern machines, so I went through some biggest services in our country.. I've found out some interesting stuff, (with a proof) so, did you know...
1. That Electrolux group, Candy group, Indesit group, Fagor group use the one identical Askoll drain pump?
2. That Electrolux group uses motors made by company SOLE, Indesit by CE.SET, and Candy mixes from time to time, model to model between SOLE and CE.SET? Only 2 types of motors in all these machines?
3. They don't have the same PCB's, but lately, on all 3 of them they didn't make any problems..the newer ones..
4. All 3 of them have sealed tubs.
There were some more information I've got, but I don't think it's the right time and thread for them, so step by step

You are correct, I saw an Askoll on our 2011 Indesit and the Zanussi I have now.
Indesit brush motors are by Welling Holding Limted in China, a company owned by the Midea Group Co Ltd. Zanussi brushed motors are made by Nidec Sole Motor Corporation srl.

Indesit company use a lot of Welling motors & Candy group use a lot of Haier branded motors on their washers because i unpack these everyday, taking note of the make of the motor.
