CBS Segment to air next Sunday

The side effect of publicity. Great piece on the group and some damn nice folks and machines as well. I do agree there will probably be a spike in ebay postings and some stupid asking prices, but after a while it will cool off again. The upside will be seen in the form of awareness. For years...

    Help! Maytag LA712! STINKS!!!!!

Stinks???? Stinks like sour laundry? Wet, rotton, mildewed rags, etc? I found one once that had the lint filter and agitator center cavity just jam packed with a mixture of rotting lint, hair and soap scum. It took boiling water and considerable effort to remove and the funk was unreal when it...

Maytag A606 sometimes doesn't spin without help

Motor slides and belts is the first place I check. I've scored three perfectly good Maytags with nothing more wrong than trash jamming the slides. One jammed tight and couldn't get started without tripping the overload. The others wouldn't get tight enough and cooked a spot on the belt if...

Special Sneak Preview - The 2015 Fall Laundry Line-up

Be glad for a "voice of reason" in the household. It's been a couple years since I ran off the last live in harpy, so things have definately gotten a bit out of hand around here. Not that I really mind, but it causes potential playmates of the female variety to wig out. They just can't fathom...

    1950s maytag dryer?

Ah Hah! You learn something new every day. If you don't, it's a day wasted. I guess mine is the (newer? older?) halo of heat type. I love the glass back tags.

    70's Lady Kenmore Agitator Removal

Stainless tubing Next time try stainlessheaders .com , burnsstainless.com or globaltecheng.com . Even Summit Racing and Jegs performance have some sizes, but not all gauges / wall thickness choices. These links aren't to the same place I was originally talking about. I can't seem to find the...

    1950s maytag dryer?

Question on that model. I have a dryer that looks to be identical, save for the little door down low on the front panal. I would have guessed this to be a gas model because my electric has only the main hatch, but now you all have me scratching my noggin. Is this a lint filter? Mine has it in...

    WCI Frigidaire hard on clothes?

Lifts itself off the floor!!!!!! LMAO!! You guys have me cracking up. The image of a machine jumping off the floor reminded me of a video I saw on youtube. This guy takes a modern front loader rigged to spin without the door and pitches a concrete block in at full speed. The thing starts...

    70's Lady Kenmore Agitator Removal

Thin wall tubing and other useful things I've had great luck at freeing rusty, stuck parts with either PB Blaster or better still, Aerokroil. It's like WD40 on steroids. TEST ON A SPOT TO BE SURE IT DOESNT REACT WITH YOUR PLASTIC PARTS! It usually doesn't, but better safe than sorry. Also, have...

    A New Vintage Washroom...

Floor treatment Damn fine lay out you have there. What is the name and manufacturer of the Floor material you used. I wonder if I can find something like that in South Louisiana. Is it tough or does it scratch easily?

maytag model 80 wringer head disaster.

Repair with Durafix? If your wringer head is made of an aluminum or zinc base pot metal type material ther is a repair option. Search online for "Durafix" rods. They will repair these types of metal using only a standard plumbers propane torch. No need for oxygen or acetylene. I've known guys...

    A new pair of machines!

LED bulbs If you all are loking for LED lights, try superbrightleds.com, yachtlights.com, marineledshop.com and drled.com. They have leds with all sorts of bases, single and double pin, different locating pins etc. LEDs will help preserve these old machines by not giving off near the heat to...

    Frigidaire

What years of Frigidaire washer had that high speed spin? I guess I'm what y'all call a Tag hag, but I really dig the way those Frigidaires washed and dried clothes! Which are the best of the best? I would like to known what I'm doing, so I can keep my eyes open while in the junk shops.

    when was that manufractured

???? What the hell is it? I try to zoom in and the writing gets fuzzy. Looks like handy something or other. I'm guessing it's a table top washer of some sort or a way out, spaceage, dough mixer. age? By the construction and styling, I'd say early 60s tops, but I'd bet on earlier.

Anyone Have A GPS System They Love?

Vintage GPS Call me old school. My friend gave me a Garmin that never gets plugged in. I still rely on a road map and a strong sense of direction. That POS talking to me got on my nerves and caused a few missed turns before being forever banished to the glove box.
