Treasure trove is right! I love the 1948 breakfast nook banquette surrounded by windows. And in Elvis/Graceland yellow, no less.

This is the sort of thing I really enjoy - seeing vintage appliances in their manufacturer-intended context, instead of as rusty hulks that have been in a basement since Ike and Mamie were in the White House.
That Westy shot above shows what the brand aspired to be - those are St. Charles cabinets and the other elements are also pretty darn luxurious for the time. Ms. Average Housewife would have been very happy to get her dishpan hands on that kitchen.

I'm guessing the room above isn't a kitchen but rather a large and plush laundry/utility room where the household help might also have had their meals. I've never seen many kitchens outfitted with big chest freezers, mostly they were relegated to a garage or utility room along with the laundry equipment. If this is indeed a large laundry room then just imagine what the kitchen must have looked like!
beautiful stuff....but yeah, its gonna take a while to view it all.....

In The '50s....
A chest freezer in the kitchen was not common, but it was seen, particularly in higher-end kitchens. I do not interpret the photo as one of a laundry area; I see it as part of a large kitchen incorporating a washer and dryer. Upright freezers were certainly available at the time, but they were by no means the "default" configuration they would become.

Great pics all around. I assume that chest freezer is a westy too? I have a similar freezer also westy that I am trying to sort out and get running again. Mine is maybe a few years younger if I were to guess. By the way who is our refridgeration guru on the board?

Chest freezers in kitchen
probably not seen much in cities, but fairly common in rural areas. Knew several families near me (including our sitter) who had them in their kitchens. Considered a little more upscale than on the front porch, where I've seen some.
