    MAYTAG TWO-BELT TRANSMISSION QUESTION

bolts you may reuse them again. I'd put some RTV sealant on the bolt gaskets for a little extra insurance.

    Washer Transmission Oil

Near complete disassembly is required simply to remove the transmission. At that point you're into full overhaul territory. Not a bad idea on a vintage machine but I would get prepared with the tools and replacement parts needed. Also, expect it to take longer and be more work than you...

    direct drive discussion

it is migraine inducing! The cure for that is the soothing "woo-woo-woo" of a Maytag helical drive washer... (Speed Queen long stroke TL's are easy on the ears as well)..

    MAYTAG TWO-BELT TRANSMISSION QUESTION

The tub is porcelain enamel finish. I'd suggest using POR-15 on the rough spots and use as is. If you decide to strip it and re-coat there are places that can do a porcelain enamel finish for not much more that powder coating.

    MAYTAG TWO-BELT TRANSMISSION QUESTION

None of the items are available from MAYTAG I think you can find a new pinion gear if you shop around. However, that one appears in good shape and should be okay for reuse provided there are no hairline cracks developing. Lugs gears can be reused as well if not badly worn but should...

    My new Maytag 806 set

I would have had to rent a truck or trailer. Trucks or trailers are not necessary to transport top load W/D's. I can easily load a W/D set in my Dodge Grand Caravan, by myself if need be, and with room to spare. In the past I've also moved individual washers and dryers in the trunk of my...

    The Things You Learn Here....

the repair guy just told them that it's too old to fix Interesting how they had no problem listening to a stranger with bad advice to buy new machines. Then they get flim-flammed at Lowes, but you, you they take a stand with, sheesh..

    Top Loader suggestion

I need to decide if I want a gas Gas all the way. Electricity rates are going nowhere but up, thanks to the EPA and Obama's attack on the coal industry. Moreover, in a power failure you can still do laundry with a mid-size generator if need be.

    Spin Drain vs Neutral Drain

    The Things You Learn Here....

only neighbor I have really had trouble with What about that older couple that purchased new machines from Lowes and got talked into a complicated model, then refused to complain when she couldn't figure out how to use them?

Vintage MAYTAG WASHER works better than a new one - $60 (West Mesa)

somebody came to look at it and they are going to take it. I've learned that one the hard way= First come, first served. An "appointment" to see a washer (or anything for sale) means little. If you really want it drop it everything and get over there ASAP.

    Spin Drain vs Neutral Drain

That's very curious about Australian Speed Queens That is because the Coriolis deflection force causes water to drain backwards south of the equator. So rather than redesign washers for the southern hemisphere Speed Queen retrofitted them to a neutral drain...

How Is Everyone Doing After The Storm?

the media can not only whip governors into a panic, but also Hopefully, this repeated crying wolf will wear thin on the public eventually. Declaring a state of emergency for an event has not taken place yet is disturbing and probably causes more problems then actually it solves. I think its...

How Is Everyone Doing After The Storm?

That isn't something we normally do Thats because the media hyped this very cold, but average, winter storm into one of their typical "end of the world" stories. The usual suspects were more than happy to go along, declaring state of emergencies before the flakes even hit the ground.

    Filter Flo

amazing....asking 100.00 firm for somthing so filthy The realities of the market place will hit soon enough when the seller discovers little to no interest for a damaged, overpriced older machine...

Where to find vintage NOS parts?

Aside from parts that are unique to the A806 many other items are directly interchangeable from other large capacity Maytag Dependable Care platform washers built from 1966 through the late 80's and even right up to the last DP in 2006. Watch Craigslist for Maytag washers, especially the less...
