DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) Found Dead in NYC

It is very sad that he survived that plane crash only to succumb to something like this. I did read somewhere he may have been depressed trying to wean himself from pain medication he had been taking due to the crash. I was so happy he and Travis made it ok, and shocked by his passing.

The summer that wasn't rolls to a close....

There were a few cool summers like that when I lived in the midwest, and they are the ones I like best. Far as the regular summers, for me the only good thing was that they were relatively short, and all I wanted was for them to end. 60-75 and no humidity is my ideal, and how it is pretty much...

    Percolator fun!

Oh yes, most definitely! That was a fun design! I think my Corning takes a regular cord too. I wonder if that special cord as the same as one of those handmixer type detachable cords except with perhaps a heavier heater grade cord.

    "remodeling on a shoestring budget"

Twintub, I think your kitchen is delightful, cheerful and functional and I like the updates you've made to it. White it is/would be for me as well, barring any cool mid century colored sets. Should anyone remark negatively again, suggest that perhaps you will consider installing stainless...

    MPLS. Contingent: Please Check In

I think are some issues in that immediate area, Frig. I have heard a couple reports of people cleaning up water out of their basement (hopefully Robert or my old roommate who also lives a few blocks from Robert are not one of these as well). OTOH, a friend who lives down by Minnehaha Park just...

    One year CANCER FREE!!

Oh that's wonderful, I am so glad to hear your good news!

2009 - the year of the flood

Also for anyone that it would matter to, if you have y's that have the little shutoff valves and you want to use them, make sure they are all brass. I had my Frigidaire connected to some that had plastic shutoffs, so I could easily cut off the water when not in use. After the hot water melted...

    I did it!!!

This of course is wonderful news all around for Thomas, but if you think cigarettes are expensive here-oh. my. God. The price there is not to be believed.

Spend eternity on top of Marilyn Monroe

I'll reserve voicing my personal opinion about various members of this family, living or dead, but for the benefit of non-Californians, the whole setup is really unique/strange. To get to this cemetery (which once you get there it's this beautiful little place where all kinds of people you would...

    Firefox 3.5

Ok, so I've installed this thing and so far think it's the bomb. When I've used it in the past I've never really paid attention to addons, but have already found two (one suggested above) and eventually will page through all that and swee what's interesting. It loads fast, does not crash every...

    Alice Ghostley

Wow, this is interesting. I was caught off guard at first as I thought she'd passed quite some time ago, so I read the article. I looked it up on Mapquest since remember seeing the name "Siloam Springs" on signs when we'd go visit my aunt and uncle in the 70s.

    Percolator fun!

BTW "Hoover" and "Hamilton Beach" (and possibly others) sourced very similar percolators from Presto at various points in their existence, if you see percolators with these names that seem "familiar".

    Percolator fun!

Wow...I never would have thought of putting a percolator in the dishwasher. Interesting! The "Presto" was always a favorite of mine. I like the style both aesthetically and functionally, being immersible and the fact that the spout is just a "fold" in the metal and thus easy to clean. It does...

    Julia

That is interesting! I never knew she was from California until the movie! I didn't even know until relatively recent years that she wasn't really French! LOL The movie made her a real person for me, and that was part of the fun. Matinee fans take note: you'll want to check your theater sites...

I really enjoyed it, thought it was delightful. So much about her I didn't know.

    Toilet Paper

I use either Target or Ralphs grocery store store brand. I think they're pretty much the same as quilted Northern though. Name brand stuff is way too expensive. That said, in the paper family or food or household products at large, paper towels (Viva) is one of few things in the world I buy...
