Washman considers making a change

Experimenting with Persil https://www.persilproclean.com/us/en/products/power-liquid/intense-fresh.html. The scent is quite powerful, suds plentiful, and cleans better than A&H with Oxiclean. I secured a bottle at my local grocer on sale for $5.99. Having heard all about it, I figured I'd...

    Modern Living: Part Three

I grew up in a town that was chock full of National homes. Dime a dozen in fact. I'd wager that 90% are still standing today so they must have done something right. The main factory was in W Lafayette IN I think it is a Wabash National plant now, not sure on that one.

Questions about specs and your experiences: Speed Queen DR7

I have the old school non electronic version. Just a stat, no moisture sensor. On delicate, it does fine. On regular, it does get hot but the only time I use that is when I dry my washable cleaning rags.

    Modern Living: Part One

    You nailed it eddie
We were content with so much less then, and it was a safer world for little kids
THose are the days I miss. No email, no smart phone, you watched Rhoda or whatever when it was aired or in reruns. Rainy days meant Life, monopoly, connect 4...

    Modern Living: Part One

reply 58 we lived in a National home in Mooresville Indiana in the early 1970's. It was a 3 bed 1 bath slab-on-grade with a 1 car garage that had been converted into a family room. The kitchen and bathroom shared the same wall and plumb runs to minimize costs on piping. It was built in 1958. I...

    Pressure pressure

I kinda dig these old films. Some are over the top naive and others harken back to a much simpler time.

    Pressure pressure

There's loads of these kids of vids on youtube. One of my favorites is Uncle Jims Dairy farm, which glorifies how wonderful farm life really is. Never mind the other stuff like bad weather, market changes, the combine breaking.............nah, it was all work and rest and play.

Washing White Underwear in Hot Water

Agree with eddie and martin the cotton quality has really dropped over the years. I usually wear FOL because Hanes, well, they just aren't as comfortable as they used to be. Either way, they don't last as long as they once did. For tshirts, I have had good luck with Jockey and whoever...

    How traffic signals work (1937)

I dig these old films There's tons of them on youtube, including the classic Signal 30. Another neat-o one is "a date with your family" A rather dark, almost film noir is "Habit Patterns", a fav of mine.
