    1966 Maytag A806S - suds return video

Pardon My Ignorance, But... I've been looking through the archives and using the Searchalator without success. Since I have no experience with a suds saver machine I was hoping someone would explain some things for me. I understand the concept of a suds saver machine and how there are two...

Needing information on Maytag A806 washing machine

Hi Terry, Sorry I haven't made it up to KC to see you and John yet. Just got back from my cousin's in Wisconsin. Was up there for 10 days and needed a good rest to recuperate. As for your question, there is a plastic deflector that fits in that hole and deflects the bleach to the side in a...

    Singer Touch Tronic 2000

Work is progressing nicely on the Singer Touch-Tronic 2000. Installed a new set of helical hook drive gears. Beats those old straight cut hard black ones all to heck. Got the belts reinstalled, new motor mounts installed, new feed dogs, re-timed the machine and checked hook to needle clearance...

Old Maytag Washer and Dryer set - considering a purchase but need help first

Chris, There's a tremendous amount of info on this site about your questions, although finding it can take a lot of time. Others may offer you information. Some can be positive and some can be negative. You will have to sift through it yourself and make your own decisions. In the Google search...

    Sheets from Cozytown linens

Ben, I'm glad you found some sheets you like. I wish we could all still buy linens like pictured. I guess they're from the '50's. The only thing on the tag is 'Pequot Peppermint Stripe'. Nothing about thread count or anything else to convince us the product was good. No one cared about thread...

    Maytag FB20 Disposer

I just did it once for a test. I don't intend on doing it again. The ring and hammers didn't look any worse than before I did it. If I feel industrious I might dig into it later on this fall, if I can find a new shredder ring. I have too many other projects to do right now to mess with it. Wes...

Maytag is Smarter Than I Thought

Hi Todd, I think you might be assuming the Maytag is more 'intelligent' than it is. All Maytags start spinning slow, as the belt is slipping to let the water pump out and not overload the motor with a full tub of water. The timer advances before the machine has a chance to spin out all the...

    Maytag FB20 Disposer

Well, I got that disposer out of the shed today, hooked it up to electricity, put the garden hose in it and turned it on. It took off and didn't leak. I was doing it outside on the patio, hooked up to a GFI to be on the safe side. I started looking around for something to shred. I gathered up...

    Vintage window a/c's

Hi Ken, It's good you're not using an acid base cleaner on those old coils. I made that mistake once. The acid will eat through the corrosion on the coils, especially where they sit in the water, and then the coil is ruined. Do you use a fin comb to straighten damaged fins on coils? Brian

    Singer Touch Tronic 2000

It needed a complete tear down, cleaning, and oiling. In the process I found several parts that needed replacing, such as motor mounts, feed dogs, hook drive gear sets and needle bar connecting link, so far.

Here's what it looked like in the beginning.   Now look. Oh dear what a mess. I hope it works when I put it back together. Found some bad parts while I was at it.

    Maytag Washing Machine - $50

Steve, I'm with Ralph on that one. I'd like to get a bit more info, but outward appearances look good. Quality wise - a little bit, usually. A solid center drive pulley, instead of one that has cut-outs, hopefully a round GE motor, which can be serviced if needed. A bit more complicated, yes...

    Maytag Washing Machine - $50

Hi Ben, I stand corrected. I saw the double wording on the left hand bank of buttons and thought it read something about 'suds', but now realize it reads 'rinse'. Thanks for the correction. Do you have machines of this age? I was only near a '66 set for a few weeks when I was taking those...

    Maytag Washing Machine - $50

That washer looks to be very nice from the outside. I hope it's as nice inside. If it were closer and I had room, I would go for it. I probably has the two piece agitator and chrome top lint filter. Paint looks in good shape. It also appears to be a suds saver. I know I always comment on...

    may tag push button

It's a rapid advance timer, Mark. Just make a diagram of where all the wires and hoses go to and from. Then you can take it apart and clean it. I'd be careful with it though. A machine of that age may have brittle wire coverings and rubber hoses. Also, a lot of those parts inside of that console...
