    Lazy engineers?!

Maybe the only thing I can slightly relate to here is our refrigerator, even though it doesn't involve a repairman. Parents wanted to recently replace it simply because it was old; it still worked 100% perfectly. Had the new one now for about 4 months with nothing wrong but I expect it to go out...

    dryer is over heating

A possible test While i'm not sure of the exact dryer, try running it on lower temperatures, usually, if all the temp settings are just as hot as high, then it could be a bad cycling thermostat.

Why did Maytag eliminate the Dependable Care Line?

Yeah, I think the only way to return them back to normal is if the damn treehugger regulations somewhat die down. It could happen, you never know....

Why did Maytag eliminate the Dependable Care Line?

To my knowledge, I think they are still being made, but for very low-end models. Wig Wags were not used on DDs, they were on the belt drives that came out before ;)

Why did Maytag eliminate the Dependable Care Line?

I have heard some people say on here that some BOL modern are actually more reliable, less things to break down I'm guessing.

    Kenmore Catalyst

Yep, that's the capacitor, it's like a black cylinder.

    Kenmore Catalyst

Alrighty, then my assumption is that the motor went bad. Another possibility, though I think less likely, is that the transmission locked up.' But also wait to see if someone else can chime in here to see of maybe something else.

    Kenmore Catalyst

Sorry, my mistake, forgot the Catalysts were usually electronic control. If the burning smell isnt coming from the control panel then maybe I would check the motor. Does the motor hum at all?

    Kenmore Catalyst

Sounds like a timer or motor problem. But when you say the timer counts down then "dies" do you mean it stops at "OFF" or does it stop before that?

Thinking of getting a GE dishwasher

In my own personal opinion, if you don't have any delicate dishes, like china, or something like that, I don't really see the need to go above a BOL dishwasher *shrugs* I'm just not sure of the overall benefits. Though, I do have a question, our Potscrubber that we used to have (pic linked...

    Speed Queen Service Call

From what I have heard, that only happens when the machine is brand new, after some uses the tub should stop moving.

To Rinse or Not Rinse - Dishwasher Story

With our old GE Potscrubber, and our current GE Triton XL, we never pre rinsed our stuff, in fact it was my mom who first told me you never had to do that. We also run the hot water first to make sure it is hot when it starts, we have gotten perfect results every time.
