Well, for 20+ years now I have been washing stuff in water no less than Warm and haven't had anything happen to me. So, I'm sure it's all good.

Nope, these machines don't stop with unbalanced loads, in your case with the bypassed switch, simply push in the timer knob to stop it and redistribute what you have to.

You can probably Google this, there's a pic somewhere of someone holding up 2 of those chocolate easter eggs. I think they were both a few years apart or something, it shows the size difference.

Technically, if you ever wanted to, you can still get a Hot/Warm. Simply move the dial to the warm rinse after the wash finishes filling, another awesome part of the mechanical control. 

I am so jealous of some of you. I would love to have a place some day that can hold mutliple machines like that. haha

I commented in this video back in 2010. I had figured that maybe if he had just left the lid down, when possible, that it could have helped the plastic. But that cover he got is still good for cabinet paint and such.
