Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Sears Best!!!!

In 1999 / 2000 this washer was Consumer Reports # 1 tested washer, as well as Sears Best top loader at the time. This is one of the few KENMORE MODELS in recent years that had a Speed Switch!!! My favorite....this is why you only have Ultra Wash and PP cycles, because with the speed switch you can create any number of customized wash and spin speed cycles. This is my favorite Kenmore console of all time. A very good washing machine,,,,dogs are a cheap fix.

you should be able to open the control panel and turn the set screw clockwise to increase the water level higher...just do it in small increments, and check the level after turning it to RESET....

very nice machine......the variations of cycles and speeds are endless......one of the better models to choose for user flexability......

you can find those 'dogs' on ebay for cheap.....and easy to install....

Technically, if you ever wanted to, you can still get a Hot/Warm. Simply move the dial to the warm rinse after the wash finishes filling, another awesome part of the mechanical control.

Excellent Washer!

You've latched on to one of the BEST TL, AW's ever.  The reliability, thorough cleaning, and cycle flexibility are outstanding.  Also being a WP built DD machine it is easy to service and parts are plentiful.  That is on the few occasions it needs it.   I can think of very few Tl washers vintage or modern that could match or beat it.

Jerry,
This is not like the old screw that is visible it is a round white sealed unit. I have the same washer, in order for me to raise the water level I had to flip the console up, take off the control knob for the water level switch, dismount the switch from the console. To do this you have a plastic tab that you must push down to release the switch from the mounting bracked and the switch will fall in your hands,(you need to be careful if you break that plastic tab you are done there are no mounting screws on this water level switch) once you look at the front of the switch it will be a tiny silver screw you need to turn I mean tiny I used a needle nose piers to get to it. I turned it a half turn and brought me right above the top row of lines in the tub. ( i did fill with water while i had the switch dismounted in case I had to re-adjust.)
Thanks
Bill

I love...

All of the Water Temp Options.. especially the automatic controls. Makes sure the Cold in the line gets flushed with the right amount of hot to get to the right temperature..

Such a useful feature :)
