Our Weekend Adventure!!!! LOTS OF STUFF FOUND!!

We had the NOMA bubble lights when I was a kid.  I was fascinated by them and would watch them for what seemed like hours!  I never decorate anymore.  Too much of a headache but I still love to look at other's decorations.

Liquor cabinet. Should I paint it?

Congratulations on a beautiful cabinet!  If it were mine I would not paint it...it's too pretty.  If fact, I would just clean it up and leave it as is.  I've dabbled a little in wood refinishing but I'm just a novice.  I would advise you to speak to someone in your area who refinishes wood or...

Raleigh cigarette coupons I had forgotten about those!  My dad saved those also.  I honestly don't remember anything he got with them.

    POTD 08/02/12 Another Nostalgia Trip

We saved our S&H Green Stamps and Colonial Stamps (brownish gold) in cigar boxes also!  Sweet Memories!  Mama also purchased her Sunbeam canister vacuum with S&H Greenstamps.  That was a great vacuum until I blew it up trying to vacuum out the chimney! :o(

POD 8/2/12 S&H Green Stamps catalog with WH appliances

Wow!  What a trip down memory lane!  My Mama saved S&H Green Stamps and it was always my job to paste them into the books.  The old redemption store was in downtown Greenville then moved to Pleasantburg Drive around 1971 or 72.  My Mama would redeem stamps for linens, cookwear, and so forth.  I...

    SNAKES!!!

LOL! I hear ya Mark! My wife's aunt is the same way.   Once my wife and I were riding with her in her brand new 1992 Maxima when the next thing we were off the road and almost in the ditch!  She was avoiding a black snake in the road!  Her aunt firmly believes if you run over a snake the tire...

EWWW!!! OMG, EWWW!! I'll never be the same again!!!

Firm believer in moth balls! Having previously lived at the lake and now next to the woods I've used moth balls for years and have satisfied with the results.  I have never heard of lime but I'll try it.  I had one baby copperhead in the carport this summer but I've not seen any others or...

EWWW!!! OMG, EWWW!! I'll never be the same again!!!

Do you know what kind of snake it was?  About 10 years ago I reached into my Mama's cabinet for a baking sheet and found a shed snake skin.  Turned out a four foot black snake had managed to crawl into Mama's house and was hiding in the kitchen cabinet.  We were able to take the thing out then...

    Desperately seeking Waffle Iron

My wife and I bought a new Black and Decker waffle iron on sale at Macy's on July 14th.  It is labled a Belgin waffler but the grills are not that deep.  We've made waffles in it twice and have been very pleased with the results - fluffy inside with a crispy outside.

POD 7/27/12 LK Washer with fabric softener dispenser

Splashed up fabric softener... My Mama had the exact 1971 Lady Kenmore only in white. Before that it was a 1961 Lady Kenmore with an even smaller fabric softener despenser opening. Not a problem. You just had to be careful when you were pouring and everything was okay. We also used Sta-Puff...

The evolution of "Rinse and Hold", Rinse Only on dishwashers

My very first dishwasher was an avacado  1974 Whirlpool middle of the line built-in with the new fangled much talked about rinse and hold cycle they were advertising on the television!   I was 19 at the time, living at home with my parents,  and I wanted a dishwasher like all my friends...

She was an attractive lady.   I remember watching the reruns of FKB when I was a child.  Haven't seen that show in years - but I knew I had seen that face before!  Thanks

    Today's POD, 07/19/2012

My question is about the attractive lady in today's Kenmore washer and dryer picture.  I keep going back to this picture and looking at it over and over.  That lady looks familiar.  Is she someone famous or does she just remind me of someone?  Does she look like someone famous to anyone else...

Vintage formula cleaning products, at bargain prices

I use BKF on Revere Wear SS cookwear.  Shines it up like new! I also enjoy using store brand pink liquid fabric softener.  I buy Laura Lynn brand from our local Ingle's Market.  It is $2.48/gallon.  It smells refreshingly like the old Texize Fluff fabric softener from my childhood!
