    What is your favorite washer?

1958 Filter-Flo My favorite is Eddy's 1958 Filter-Flo. Robert has one too; his is turquoise. I love the AGI with the pink cap and the copper filter pan. I love the way they sound!!! I have fond memories of my Mom's '60 filter-flo and the sounds it made.

    WA Wizard POD 3/26/2012

I cannot explain why I'm so interested in the Western Auto Wizards of 1958/59, but I am. The POD is a 1958. (A bit of trivia: the lint filter is different from the one on the 1959 model in a POD rotation.) What I wonder is if ANY of the 1958/59 models is in existence somewhere. I faintly recall...

New Agitator Top Loader -- Danby DWM17WDB

I just discovered a new top load agitator washer, a Danby. They dropped the DWM99W a few months ago. The replacement is similar but has electronic controls instead of manual. It has a lint filter, a detergent dispenser drawer and a stainless steel inner tub. (One of our club members has posted...

    Maytag Commercial MAT15MNAWW

I've Read Up on the Machine I've never used one, but it caught my attention, and I read some reviews and looked at the parts diagram. The reviews are universally good (much better than the Whirlpool GCAM* machines). Things I liked: 1) Single-piece agitator 2) Simple controls (no confusion on...

    New Maytag MVWC200XW: Any good?

DO NOT Purchase the DD Roper!!! The DD Roper during rinse will, REGARDLESS OF THE SELECTD WATER LEVEL, only fill to the base of the agitator shaft!!! The Maytag, however, being more sophisticated, will do spray rinses and OPTIONALLY a deep second rinse, which actually works. There's a RINSE...

Everyone Please Read: As an Honor to Terry, I'm Posting This in the Imperial Forum...

I'm Deeply Touched I never got to meet Terry, but I am very deeply touched by the love and devotion shown by this club. He was no doubt a truly wonderful human being, and I am saddened by his passing. Larry

What vintage appliance would make your holiday complete?

Filter-Flo AGI Cap Colors Hi Jason! It was the 1959 Filter-Flo that had a seafoam (turquoise) recirc flume and agitator cap and a copper-plated filter pan. My Mom had a '60 that had the black recirc flume and cap with a plastic filter pan. I remember that one of Mom's friends had a Filter-Flo...

What vintage appliance would make your holiday complete?

My top choice is a 1957,58 or 59 GE filter-Flo. I love the pink or sea foam agitator caps and the copper lint filter pan.

    Lint Removal On Modern Washers

Portable Agitator Top Loaders Still Have Lint Filters The Whirlpool LCE4332, Haier XQJ50-31 and GE Spacemaker WSLS/WSLP1100 agitator top loader washers all have lint filters. This is probably because it would be a problem if strands of lint drained into the kitchen sink used for draining the...

Haier Full Size Agitator Top Loader Washer Gaining Popularity

Sales are picking up I was at the Brandsmart yesterday and asked one of the reps about these machines, and he stated that sales are slowly increasing. I asked him about the quality, and he stated that he hoped that as sales increased, the availability of parts would improve. His next remark...

    POD 11/2/2011 Western Auto Washer

I'm fascinated by these machines. There's a 1964 on YouTube, but nothing else. Robert put a parts list pdf out a few months ago. I believe there are two machines, a 1966 and a 1964, in our club. Is the Wizard-See-It-Wash DVD from 2005 still available?

Haier Full Size Agitator Top Loader Washer Gaining Popularity

I noticed Home Depot now carries the Haier RWT350AW washer. It's an agitator 3 cubic foot top loader. Lowes has carried it since earlier this year, as has Brand Smart. I've noticed a difference in prices: Lowes wants $560.00; Home Depot wants $449.00; Brand smart wants $289.88. It seems to...

    POD 9-25-2011

I believe it's a 1956 Model I believe it's a 1956 model, and one of our members, Lightedcontrols, has such a machine and has posted a You Tube video of it. The manuals section of this site has a service manual for the 1956 ABC-O-Matic.

I thought May was Maytag month

My Favorites Too!!! There are many things to like about these machines. I especially like the detergent-dispenser-in-the-agitator feature and the TIMED bleach dispenser. BTW, why did Maytag not continue with the detergent-dispense-agitator feature in 1966? I know they went to a new design of...

    POD 8/18/2011 WCDATN & WCDAFN

Are These Machines Prior to the 1-18 Models Considering that one of these machines offered a 1,000 rpm spin, aren't they prior to the 1-18s? I believe they would be Rollermatics.

The Brand Spanking New 1962 GE V12 Comes Home

Nice Machine Robert, I am so glad you have saved all these woderful vintage machines over the years. They are not only master pieces of engineering and craftsmanship, but also a reminder of our past. I grew up with Filter-Flo washers. My Mom and my grandmother owned them for a period time that...

    POD August 11, 2011

Who Built the Wizard The one in the POD is a 1959 model, and that era machine was built by Franklin. Our webmaster Robert made a pdf repair manual available a while back. He has a 1966 model affectionately known as "the Pig." What I'd like to know is how many of these machines were built. I've...

    Summer Vacation Wash In 2011

The Easy is Beautiful! This may seem a silly question, but what does the Easy sound like when it's running? Being a Beam design, does it sound similar to Eddy's '53 Hotpoint and '57 Speed Queen? Is it smooth and quiet like Robert's '63 Easy?
