Persil is the way to go if you have a front loader (IMHO)... The powder that is....   Ryan,   If you calculate the cost per load using the # of loads on the box, it does seem very expensive. However, in my 5Kg Miele machine, I only use about 1/8 cup for average loads and maybe 1/8 to 1/4...

actually Riedel prefers automatic dishwashing They actually have an agreement with Miele. They insist that washing them in the Miele (as I do) is better for them than handwashing. I know that most of the breakage we have (not often but it does happen) comes from handling - not machine...

they don't look that different to me .... I would just chalk it up to "patenia" and leave it alone.   Sometimes, when you futz with things too much, you regret it.   who knows?  Maybe you will find a NOS set of buttons in pristine shape you can swap them out for.  Meanwhile, happy susding!
