quietness That is interesting that it is so quiet. I have a Frigidaire Affinity, product of Electrolux, and while it isn't as bad as it could be, it makes the typical droning type of blower sound. That kind of gets to me after a while, but it does an otherwise pretty good job.

agitator dogs which would be normal for nothing in there when the top part of the agitator is just spinning in circles, there has to be clothes up there for those dogs to grip.

I hear the noise you refer to and my last direct drive whirlpool made the same noise, I just thought that was normal operating noise. It ran fine for years until I sold that house. As far as the grinding sound if you can catch that on video that might help.

self clean vs. continuous clean I have never heard of anything but self cleaning ovens. I have seen some marked continuous clean but thought it was just another way of saying the same thing. What were the differences?
