    2009 Cadillac northstar:still suspect?

The famous Death-Star tinfoil engine, by GM. It does not matter if one starts one of these cold or not. Sooner or later, you will have major engine problems, and the car will not be worth repairing. I would not put any money in one of these cars, at all. Not even an oil change. They were a very...

Super clean Maytag A806/DE806 set on FB Marketplace - Madison, WI

No road trip for me Kenny. As much as I like the old Maytags, I am out of room. A bit too new for my taste as well.

USA Members Don't Forget To Turn Those Clocks Back

A good reason not to have d.s.t. all year around, is because this time of year it is pitch black outside when the children are leaving for school in the morning. Many still walk, and could be stuck by a car or scooped up by a stranger in the darkness. I hate the short days, and long nights...

    Norge Timeline washer transmission question

I have a 1958 Norge Timeline that I have restored, with the help of two donor machines. I overhauled the transmission on my 58 during the restoration, however I remember on one of the donors(1956's)the transmission was locked up and would not agitate. As far as I can remember, the entire...

    Begun, the mayonnaise wars have

I purchase Dukes, now that it is available here in the North. My Great Aunt Maxine, who lived in League City Texas used it, and when we would visit, and I loved it! Mom used Miracle Whip back in the 1960's, and even as a child, I thought that product was far too sweet. So we used Hellmanns until...

1966 Magnavox Astro Sonic restoration help

Be sure to clean the control pots and switches well. Usually the problems with only one channel working are because of dirty controls, switches. I have restored several Magnavox consoles over the years. They really sound great with a little "tune up"

When Did Maytag Stop Using These Mercury Switches.....

. My 1958 Maytag has two mercury switches. One for the tub lamp, and another as the lid switch. I think this was the last year this setup was used. I disabled the lid switch in 2004 during the restoration. The out of balance is still operational with this setup.

How to remove severe yellow stains from white pillowcases?

When I launder bedding, I always wash in hot water, and add quite a bit of ammonia. While I don't think this will remove the yellow stains in theses sheets, it would be useful advice for her next sheet set.

    Maytag brake assembly

The brake arrived via USPS this morning. I installed it this afternoon, and did two loads in the machine tonight. It works perfectly again, as a vintage Maytag should! The brake started being noisy about a year ago. It didn't screech at first, just made a sort of a moaning sound, as the brake...

    Maytag brake assembly

Hey there Yogi! Good to see you too. And thanks for the welcome! Hi Kenny, The Hamiltons are doing great! I ran a gas line for the dryer last summer, and have been using it from time to time. The washer works great, and has a very large capacity for 1967. I am retired now, so when you get to...

    Maytag brake assembly

Thank you Ben! I had asked the seller, however I did not get a response from them. Perhaps he did not know if it would fit. I did the "buy it now" for the brake assembly, and will purchase the bearing locally at Home Appliance Parts. Sure is noisy. Not like a vintage Maytag at all!!

    Maytag brake assembly

Can anyone tell me if this brake assembly will fit my 1958 Maytag washer? Model # is: 142S I have already tried to oil it, but it did not work. Still screams like crazy. Thanks...

    BD Sounds

WP/KM sounds The early belt drives were very loud, and WP changed the wig wag, in the early 60's to quiet is down somewhat. I think it is the belt that makes the woo-woo sound. Perhaps when they added the transmission braces in 1961, it helped quiet the machine as well. The early belt drives...

    Today's POD 12/16/17 Suds-Miser

We had a suds saver hooked up for a little while, when I was a child. Mom had been using an Easy spin dryer, until my father purchased a 1957 Kenmore "frogeye" washer. He scrapped the Easy, and saved one of the tubs to use as the suds saver. I do not recall mom ever using it, although, she must...
