New W/P Front Load Washers and Dryers! CES2016

The control panel's functionality seems pretty much the same on the washer as similar models, except they replaced the Allergen cycle with a Colorlast cycle.

    Speed Queen.

It is curious that the export Speed Queens use an electric drain pump. If it was a superior design I would think it would be universal. Perhaps it is to accommodate a difference between foreign and domestic setups? Does it drain more slowly to accommodate a potentially smaller sized drain pipe...

    Tide Pods

You don't know if you don't try it Frigilux: I have heard that the secret to longevity is the ability to adapt to change. It is great that you are open to trying new things, and now have a washer that automatically doses the detergent for you! Joe

Showers and bathtubs in the U.S.

Does it have a ring or other way to adjust it so that it sprays differently? Some shower heads have adjustable settings, such as a massage setting and another, more traditional spray setting. Funny that you equated it to a Waterpik, as we used to have a Waterpik brand showerhead that I really...

Whirlpool's TL Washer with Lid Controls

It looks like Whirlpool will be offering a TL washer and matching dryer with front controls, similar to the ones offered by LG. I think they look pretty sharp.

How often should you wash your ... fill in the blank

That was interesting, and seemed pretty logical. But I can't imagine not washing jeans for months at a time.

    About Persil ProClean & Froth

Maybe it is to justify the 6x designation, which is in line with what Tide is doing with their detergent advertising. Perhaps it is 6x better at stain removal in a top load washer, but not 6x better in a front load washer. Not to say it does a better job of cleaning in a TL, but that low-end...

    Orange Crush Pound Cake

Thanks for the recipe! I made this cake and will be taking it to a volunteer training I am giving tomorrow. I wasn't sure if the cream cheese frosting would need to be refrigerated, so I made a simple glaze with crush and a bit of orange extract. [this post was last edited: 10/9/2015-14:33]

    New GE Top Loaders

I also see "warm rinse" is offered. That is uncommon these days.

Installed: Maytag 8100 Washer & Dryer

Thanks for the info. I was able to try out my friend's Whirlpool machine with the automatic dispenser, but my visit wasn't long enough to try out all the features. I thought it did a good job of dosing, and the cone spray pattern evenly wetted the load.

Other than water hardness and detergent concentration, is the amount of detergent dispensed determined by just the load size, or does the soil setting impact it too?

Vintage Farberware Convection Turbo Oven Dehydrator Microwave Model 460/5

I have the exact same model. I remember when my grandmother got it decades ago. It has now been passed down to me. Simple design, but works really well. I bring it up from the basement whenever I make pepperoni pies, or bake anything that doesn't fit in my Breville Smart Oven.

There’s a New Home Appliance Brand Coming to America

That is too bad. It would be nice to have more quality competition in the major appliance category.

Installed: Maytag 8100 Washer & Dryer

My HE3t has the Normal/Casual cycle. I thought the "casual" was dropped when the cycle was changed, eliminating the cool down at the end of the wash and increasing the speed of the intermediate spins. I believe on the newer machines, you can no longer select a slow spin speed on the normal...

    New Clorox Bleach Products

I saw them a couple weeks ago at Target. Since they did not have disinfection information, I decided not to get them, but I am curious if they do a good job of whitening.

Persil Detergent now available at Shaws/Star Market

I just saw Persil at a ShopRite in South Philly this morning. They only had these two varieties.

    powder vs liquid...

Is your water hard? I brought Sears detergent with me on a trip and used it in a top load washer with warm water. I mixed the detergent into the water before adding the clothes. It left the dark items looking like they had powder reside on them. Someone in the laundromat told me that the water...
