    kerosene vintage servel

From what I understand, these can use just about any type of fuel.  I have seen propane, natural gas and kerosene models.   They use a mixture of hydrogen and ammonia.  I am not sure how the sulfur comment came up.  The danger of these is due to improper cleaning of the burner and the flue. ...

Need advice on refigerator compressor replacement.....

A refrigeration technician will have to determine the size of the compressor.  I suspect the old one used R12 and the new one will use 134a.

    GE monitor top fridge

Ken,   I don't believe they ever stopped until the 1960's.  They made painted and porcelain cabinets for each model generally.  It was a price issue.

Poor monitor top attacked by the 1970's

Yes, I saw the Pesto-Bismal version also.  I have a feeling that one was used in a school play.  The bakelite part of the control is broken from improper handling.

    More Food A Rama Madness

I think the problem with the FoodaRama is that there's a large amount of plastic in them.  Plastic gets brittle, breaks or parts get lost.  These things have had to live through the time period of being just a big old fridge.  It's that period when people loose shelves and duct tape is the...

    Another round of refrigerator children

Unfortunately, the little 34 Westinghouse gave me a dramatic light show and then dumped it's so2 throughout the house last night.  I have a compressor out of a 37 Westinghouse in the garage so maybe it can live on.

    Another round of refrigerator children

No, the flat top unit is dated 1945.  The cabinet is 1929-30.  The previous owner had it painted.  This is the 4 cu ft size that was $215 back then.    The Westinghouse has a hermetic compressor.  The contacts are messed up in the control.  I am trying to put my hands on another.   The ball...

    Another round of refrigerator children

I was bad and looked on ebay.  I noticed someone listed a few antique refrigerators.  I bid for sport and won, so I had to drive across the state to collect them.   Here they are dressed for Halloween.  I wonder what the other drivers thought.  The second is them before loading.  The third is...
