    OMAHA ALLERT! MAYTAG N2L!!!!!!!

"The Gyrator produced Maytag's famous Gyrafoam washing action in both conventional and automatic Maytags up until the introduction of the Lint Filter Agitator in the late 50s. Don't disrespect the Gyrator. People reaching down into a conventional washer while the Gyrator was in operation were...

A good brand of detergent is......

I have tried lots of different stuff and.... ...I still like my Sears Ultra Plus the best. I keep a jug of Seventh Generation Liquid on hand for my delicate cycle darks, but everything else gets the SUP with a little bit of STPP added if they're dirty dirty.

    Sauvitel Field Flowers Fabric Softener

Field Flowers My ex-partner bought a bottle of that stuff about 4 years ago. I liked how it worked but the scent was way too strong for me. I was cleaning out my armoire a few months back, and I found some clothes that I had put away back then. Interestingly, they still smelled like the...

    Sears Canister Vacuum

They're still around out here.... ...yep....they were a good machine. I've seen and used several, all with tape on the house near the handle! :)

Whats everyone driving these days? :)

My Daily Driver... ....is a little 2003 Ford Ranger XL (bought it from the fleet division for less than 11K new), with the 3.0L V6 and a 5 speed manual. Other than maintenance, it has only been in the shop once in 7+ years and 50,000 miles. No pics, but I think everyone here has seen the little...

Which dishwasher detergents are people using?

Sunsations Phosphate Free My water is so soft that it still does fine in my 18 inch portable. Takes about 2 teaspoons a load in Portland water.

    Admiralpools on SALE again

I Still Like Mine My Admiralpool is loaded weekly and no glitches. It has just enough features to be useful, without any of the fluffy stuff. It is one noisy machine....right up there with the Norge Branded Admirals of the 70s and 80s! :)

    Whirlpool Calypso Washing Machine

"thanks for the quick answer... I'm going to try a few more pounds of clothes and will give it some extra time. In the meantime, here's what it replaced. You tell me, maybe I did a bad thing, lol." Oh....I used to have almost the exact same pair....such good machines....don't let them slip away!

    Laundry Stain Pre-treaters

For Greasy Stains.... ...try Fels Naptha bar soap. Grab a spray bottle and fill with water. Spritz the oily stains, rub the Fels Naptha in, and let set until you're ready to do a load. If it dries on there it won't hurt anything on typical fabric.

    Your oldest home appliance

Oldest (and still running fine) My 1940 Maytag E2L wringer washer.

Cascade phosphate free is getting TERRIBLE reviews by customers!

I haven't really been affected.... ....Portland has less than 1/3 of a grain per gallon in our public water. But I really feel for people who aren't blessed with very soft, or mechanically softened water.

    18" Kenmore portable

Like Launderess.... ....I have one too. Give it good detergent, properly scrape your dishes, and plenty of hot water and it does very well. I bought it in November 2002 and it's been used daily with not a service call. The worst thing I've had happen is a wheel pop off the bottom rack which...

    POD 07/28/2010 NORGE FRONTLOADER

My Grandmother Had One.... ...long before I was born. She only kept it a few months because she hated that washer...loved the capacity but dripping wet clothes after the spin and it had a nasty tendency to dribble water around the door seal. She still won't consider a front loading washer to...

    POD 07-27-10 WCI "Frigidaire"

Disturbing.... ...very disturbing. Should have been titled "When Good Washers Go Bad."

    Best Powder Detergent

Another Vote for Sears Ultra Plus I tried this on the recommendations of the good people here. I've been very pleased--dirt cheap cost per load, everything is very clean, and no odors or unwanted scents when the wash is done.

    Old GE dishwasher--any good?

I had one of those in an apartment I lived in.... One word described it....craptacular. Roto204 was right....the only dishwasher that could dirty up a clean load of dishes.

    Kirby Carpet Shampooer

Method I Like to Use I like to grab one of the gallon sized pump up sprayers and mix my cleaning solution in that. I hit the spots first, and then spray the area I want to clean, giving heavy traffic areas high priority. Then I work the spray in carefully with my angle broom (I intend on...

"Improved" Phosphate Free Dishwasher Detergents and STPP

I don't need the STPP in my Dishwasher ...my water is super soft, but I do like it to boost white clothes in the washer with the Sears detergents. I wouldn't mix it with the liquid detergent and glop up your dispenser. I add it to the tub all the time in my top loader without issue. I've never...

Top 5 things to never put in the dishwasher

I don't agree.... ....with the pots and pans, non-stick, aluminum, and whatever. The aluminum may darken a tiny bit, but there's not a problem with any of the above it you aren't way overusing the detergent. I've been doing it for 20+ years with my pots and pans, and I've never noticed...

    Kirby Carpet Shampooer

Kirby Wash/Steam Vac Rinse "I have to ask: if, after going through the process of setting up the Kirby to work as a shampooer, then shampooing the carpet, you then have to drag out, set up and use a carpet washer - the term 'steam vac' is inaccurate, they don't use steam to clean - why not just...
