What is the maximum cooking time? I have a similar appliance but it only goes up to 10 minutes on the timer. If I cook things like frozen burgers I usually have to reset the timer to add extra cooking time.
I had an email from Homespares today, saying they are selling off remaining stocks of heaters for some Servis and Hoover machines for £1 each, trade price. I had a look at their retail website and they are charging £7.77 for the Servis ones:

I once saw a clip from Big Brother where a man was washing dishes and he used pretty much a whole bottle of washing up liquid for a fairly small amount of items. Some people are just naturally wasteful with stuff. When I'm on my own a toilet roll lasts me about 3 weeks. Consumption always rises...
Thanks Launderess. That ash sifter looks a handy thing as it would also remove the nails and screws from burning scrap wood. I used to have access to graphite powder when I was in the carbon composites industry. Your first link didn't work BTW.
My grandmother had a couple of sayings meaning that she needed to stop chatting and get on with some chores. One was "This won't get the babies bathed.", the other was "This won't get the range black leaded". In her younger days most people would have cooked on a coal fired, cast iron cooking...
You have to add a valve in the pipework to the compressor. The oil will be a non conductive type like they use in transformers. Actually most oil is non conductive, it is best to think of it as like plastic but in liquid form. I've never done a re-gas as I didn't do refrigeration repairs but the...
The alternative might be to contact a clock repairer and suggest they branch out into timers, as they would have the dexterity and tools even if they were starting from scratch in terms of spare parts.
Launderettes in UK probably struggle to survive these days so I suppose they keep the equipment going as long as they can. At one time people would take their large items to the launderette but most have the larger capacity washers now.
Interesting how diets vary. Andy says he rarely ate potato when growing up. Until I left home in 1981 I was given potatoes at home 7 times a week most weeks and typically they would be mashed 6 of those times. We often had fish and chips on a Saturday, as that was shopping day and my mother...
Sandy, the filler is no harder than old putty, probably a bit softer. I don't think I have ever had to re-glaze a window done with it though and mainly I've used it for patching when some of the old putty has cracked and is falling off.
I use car body polyester filler instead of putty these days, as it lasts longer and saves time. You do have to sand it so you have to be careful not to sand off any galvanising from the metal frame.
I can understand the "stow away" design for the washer, as it's a toploader and you would need to pull it out to get to the lid but I would have thought the dryer could stay in its stowage position during use.
