Just wondering how often this is used.  I accidentally hit it today and am not too happy with the results.  In the long run no big deal but I'm wondering what people use it for.  I like to know where I've been and go to where I left off this would seem to defeat that purpose.

Erm

Erm not really sure why anyone would :/

Only thing I can think of is suppose if you just wanted to tidy everything up, or start a fresh (bit like marking all your emails as read, although some you never open) :)

I agree, the red helps.  I was on my Ipad today and my finger slipped a bit hitting the first post and bam -everything marked unread.  I've been hitting the spin button on threads I remember reading and backing up to where I recall leaving off.  To be honest I'm stumped as to the value of that little button.  Perhaps having a function that marked everything as READ would be only slightly more useful for those that want to read only the newest posts in any given thread, but that make little sense to me either.

Oh well...

When you go into any of the forums other than 'Latest Posts', on the same line where it says 'Use scroll highliting' and the 'AM/PM' check box there is a button that says 'Mark all threads as read in all forums'. Because I check the site frequently, I only ever go into the Latest forum so I had never noticed that button before.

previous site versions

Until just a few months ago, you could not resurrect ancient threads, it only stored for about 30 days. Older ones had to be searched and could not be posted to after 30 days. And there was also a button for Mark All As Spun(READ). Both buttons were very convenient back then. Now the one leftover button is, I believe, simply "leftover" and not handy. I have found all the new changes to be very helpful here, so I can't complain about one leftover feature. This website gets easier every few months, more packed with info and pics and features.
