    GE 1959 Range J408 - a burner question

The presence of the heat sensor is no guarantee that the unit is still configured as a "Sensi-temp" unit. It honestly could be, but often when either the sensor or the responder units on these failed, the responder was switched out with a conversion infinite heat switch and the wires to the...

    GE 1959 Range J408 - a burner question

The reasons for that issue are myriad on that range. It could be a bad inner coil, but that is unlikely. Have you tested the impedance of the inner coil? Have you looked at the connections at the coil itself to see if they are bad? Do you know if it is indeed a "Sensi-temp"? and that it has not...

It came with the new house so....

Forced air drying in the Maytag RR machines first appeared in July of 1978 with the WU100, 300, 500, 700, 900 machines. I have the documentation from "Let's Talk Service" if anyone wants proof…..

    Maytag Automatic Washer worth saving?

Don't let it go! That i a truly EARLY production Top-of the Line 12-series machine. You will never be able to recreate the durability and cleaning action of this machine. It dates from Dec. 1984, just 6 months into production of the 12 series machines. Still has the long-stroke pitman agitator...

    Frigidaire RCI-39-57 help needed

They are so difficult to find because Frigidaire was re-engineering their ranges on a yearly basis in the late 1950s and 1960s. The bake element on this 1957 range is a 2200 watt radianttube. It was used only on the 30" models in 1956 & 1957. The broil element was around a little longer, it...

So, you want...

    Frigidaire RCI-39-57 help needed

I have the Deluxe version of this range for that year. Here's what I can tell you about these parts: 1. Speed Heat switch, almost impossible to find. I can post the part numbers later when I have time. Speed Heat elements, not as hard to find since the same was used from 1955-1970s. Sometimes...

It's a good weekend for a new (to us) Frigidaire Range!

Fred, here ya go. I am not the "housewife" type so this range looks rather bachelor-like at the moment![this post was last edited: 6/17/2015-22:08]

It's a good weekend for a new (to us) Frigidaire Range!

My 57 Custom Deluxe clock has the same issues that yours had. This is inspiring me to get it repaired! It's been 1:23 in my kitchen since February.

    kenmore 1970s? Identify this dryer

To clarify things: The dryer is a late 1960s-very early 1970s "Match-all" Kenmore dryer. There never was a washer made that was an exact match to this console. It's innards would be standard WP/KM stationary bulkhead design. VERY reliable and parts are still easily available. The washer is a...

    Nice Maytag Pair

Could be either. Would need a tub shot or a serial # to tell for certain. These are "12" series machines and were made from July 1984 until June 1990. The switch-over to orbital occurred in July 1989.

    Gas HOH Dryer

No, the gold panel started with the HOH dyers in March of 1975 and are considered "series 1" models. The big load dyers weren't introduced until sometime into 1976 (July?).   This is the second from the BOL model and it had a plastic console. Plastic console machines never got the the...

question about vintage Suds Saver (50s-60s) machines

There were a number of ways that a suds saver could be connected. Growing up, ours was a single tub with a standpipe that was also the stopper for the tub. The non-suds water drained into this tube which went directly down the drain.   Almost all suds-savers had two separate drain hoses and a...

It's a good weekend for a new (to us) Frigidaire Range!

I love radiantubes as well. Part of this stems from the fact that I learned to cook on 5-heat radiantubes as a older child and teenager. Our 1958 Frigidaire Deluxe 30" range was around until the early 1980s. When it was scrapped, it was unfortunately replaced with a WCI Frigidaire that only...

It's a good weekend for a new (to us) Frigidaire Range!

Congratulations on coming over to "Radiantube" electric cookery!   As you may know, I have been somewhat obsessed with Frigidaire ranges from this time period for a long time. I finally took possession of a 1957 Custon Deluxe myself last winter.   Some observations: - It looks to be in...
