    Kenmore Direct Drive gets rhythm!

Early direct drives did. My 1984 Design 2000 did. Appnut Bob: I will place a high bet that your Shredmore has one also?

POD 9-16 Whi'pool 'digital' [history quest]

For the new members among us May somebody "in the know" repeat what color that picture actually is? I seem to recall an explanation when it first entered Pict of Day circulation that something about the HTML coding renders it that blue color we are seeing. A high school I visited in 1982 had...

the maytag washer dryer set in bewitche before switching to Frigidaire

Two episodes of "TBH" hint at Granny's gradual assimilation: Commerce Bank gifts the family with a television in the first season. Granny sees the screen before it is powered on and asks whether it is a washing machine "like the one we have out back." In another episode late in the series, a...

    Kenmore Dryer

Could the fact that the lint trap is located at front indicate that this machine was equipped to accommodate a heated drying rack?

1978 Frigidaire Jet Cone Washer Commercial

Thanks, Martin! (Reply #16) That explains it. The first DA I encountered *in action* was a 1980 model.

1978 Frigidaire Jet Cone Washer Commercial

Ya know, each time I've seen that ad since it was new, I was baffled by a curious clicking, ticking noise coming from the KM. I've never heard that with any of the dozens of dual-actions I've come across. After this thread, I am guessing that with the machine's being overloaded and with not...

    08 26 2020 Pict-of-Day: GE Dishwasher

Is that exactly the same dishwasher as the 1948 GE electric sink?

    Frigidaire top rack only

I had exactly the same machine as Mike's in Reply #2. I very rarely used the Top Rack Only option. It would still alternate, but would spend very little time on the lower rack.

Is anyone near this 1984 24 inch DD Kenmore?

That's the exact model I bought for my Mother and the family in autumn 1984 that you can read about on my profile page, complete with the "LET US SHOW YOU SYSTEM 21" sticker. I can't find an archive of the newspaper ad of the sale so I could post the sale price, and I've slept many nights since...

1950s mint aqua green toilet Free in East Atlanta

Reminds me vaguely of a fixture manufactured by Eljer.

    NuTone Dishwasher

Scovill Barry, what was the Scovill Industries period about? For awhile, Hamilton Beach and then NuTone were under that umbrella. Was there a buyout? A merger? The family built our dream house - a wood and moss rock A-Frame - in 1977; the builder installed a NuTone Scovill intercom system, but...

    TV Sightings

I had trouble also, Tom. There just never was a clear, focused enough shot of it. And, Chuck's car: was that an Austin Healey? The tail end of it threw me off. I got a little obsessed about the exterior of the house, particularly the steps up to the porch. There are no steps on LITB, both the...

60s Washer, dryer, top-load dishwasher abandoned

Yep, John: timed bleach dispenser, roto-swirl agitator with detergent cup and scrubber cap, infinitely variable water level with reset feature, unbalance switch and buzzer; and I believe that '63 was the first year that Sears rolled the self cleaning lint filter down to the middle of the line...

Borrowed Kitchen on "The Paul Lynde Show"

Son-in-law: John Calvin of "Dallas" and "Magnum P.I." fame. Ya know, I thought I recalled the range on "The Andy Griffith Show" being gas; but now that I recall, it actually was never shown.

Borrowed Kitchen on "The Paul Lynde Show"

I only just found this series tucked away in a late Saturday night time slot on the Antenna TV channel. Seems that it ran for one season only in 1972. There's a kitchen scene. I immediately recognize the black glass wall oven and hunter-green cabinets from "Bewitched." Then, I spy the gold side...

POD 5-21-2020 WH Wartime Ad for Laundromat Automatic Washer

I chuckle each time a mfg in these P-O-D makes the statement: "(the machine) cleans itself and shuts itself off," as though there's some kind of high-tech process that happens at the end of the cycle, and not what actually happens - that the self-cleaning process goes on *as* the laundry is...

    Tried going shopping

It took three different tries at five different stores over the period of one week before I finally got the bottle of Lysol Antibacterial cleaner that I, myself, wanted. Barry: I'm guessing that your meat woes were at H-E-B? Guess in spite of their TV ads touting local sourcing of most of their...

    station wagons: 1957-90...

Son, did I get the TourX wrong! I recall reading an article in a car enthusiast publication when TourX first debuted which made the claim that it was likely being pitched to older, wealthier buyers who because of the ailments which affect the elderly like bad backs, did not want to climb in and...

    Best budget Dishwasher?

Queue @ THD That's curious... Two weekends ago, I was in two The Home Depot stores. No line outside one, and at the other, the queue was for returns only; anyone coming in to shop could walk right in.
