    Question about Panasonic "inverter" microwaves

Panasonic claims that it actually reduces the amount of power delivered to the magnetron on their inverter microwaves, instead of just cycling it on and off like other makes do. Now, here's the dilemma I am up against. I have a 1000 watt power converter in my camper that converts 12 volt power...

    Radarange List

I was able to find all the caps I needed at my electronics shop without having to order any! The 1000uF was only reading 30 uF with my meter...definitely the culprit behind my flickering screen. The 10uF was reading 7uF, and the 220 was reading 186uF. Now, I've got another problem, When I was...

    Radarange List

My mechanic has a RR3A sitting in the break room of his shop. I've asked him about it a few times, but he's not interested in getting rid of it...apparently he knows how good the things are too! I set out looking for all my capacitors today. Radio Shack doesn't have any capacitors over 50 WVDC...

Need some help from the Group Mind

Here's the gadget: It will run off of batteries, or a 6 volt DC wall adapter not included. http://www.smarthome.com/61392/Stop-Dog-Barking-Bark-Smart-Deluxe/p.aspx

Need some help from the Group Mind

There's an electronic gadget I bought from Smarthome.com that works great I found out for taking care of my back-door neighbor's dog. It's an ultrasonic speaker with a microphone. The gadget is tuned to the frequency of the dog's bark. When the dog barks, it emits an ultrasonic sound that annoys...

    Outside of my house.

The house has great potiental...I like old houses like this, I can always see a diamond in the rough! It looks like it has lots of room inside with the upstairs room, and the basement, and that bay window should be a nice place to relax in!

    Lighting a Pilot Light

I would purchase a gas detector from a hardware store, and place it somewhere near the stove. If the pilot light(s) go out, your gas detector will be prompt in telling you. They look similar to a carbon monoxide detector and are installed the same place...down low, because propane and natural...

    Consumer Reports Subscribers: Something Fishy

I don't get C.R. How much did they drag vintage appliances through the mud?!?! C.R. always seems to be about "buy new" saying that you are taking your chances on reliability using an old product. They also seem to harp on the energy efficiency too, saying that old appliances consume more...

Another score for the "summer home"

I would say try and sell that boiler on Craigslist or something...you could get enough money back on that boiler to pay for the forced air system....that was a good find! Awesome!!! I've always been right partial to the RUUD and Rheem water heaters. We have a few local plumbers around that...

    Radarange List

Hey, nice page...got me interested in getting into my RR and fix my flickering screen issues. Which capacitors generally fail causing the flickering screen on a RR9T? Is it the eletrolytics on the power supply board, or the little mica caps on the microcontroller board? I also have problems with...

frigidair flear in Family vacation movie

Anybody catch the Frigidaire Flair in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation? It's over Eddie's wife's shoulder when they are sitting in Eddie's kitchen talking. It's sort of out of focus, but you can definitely tell it's a flair!

    50s GE Range/Double Oven

Car dashboards? Those control panels look like the the dash panel of a 1959 Impala! Only, the chrome strip is at the top, and not at the bottom. Really cool! What model year were those stoves built?

Plane Goes Down at NYCs LaGuardia Airport

One of the news stations around here stated that if anyone was killed in this accident, then that would have broken our 5-year run of not having anyone killed in aviation accidents in the USA. Okay, so where are all those reporters when over 30,000 people get killed on the highways every year...

    circuit city has shorted out!

One of my most annoying trips to C.C. was last spring when I was looking for some 6 inch car stereo speakers to install in my camping trailer. I went into their stereo room where they had all the huge car ghetto-blaster subwoofers going, and I turned them off, and turned on a set of 6 inch...

    circuit city has shorted out!

No buyer of the business was found, so they are going to liquidate all the remaining stores and sell off all the asssets. They started here in Richmond 60 years ago as Ward's TV & appliance. Back then, they were known for their bait & switch tactics, but during the eighties, they straightened up...

ever spoke with an elderly person about their appliances?

I hooked up a new stove for my grandmother this past weekend, and the subject came up about many of the family gatherings and dinners we had over there. She mentioned that she never thought when they scraped together their few dimes back in the fifties to buy her stove for the house that she...

    Frigidaire microwaves

Looks like the controlling electronics are all Amana too... just re-arranged a bit. I suspect maybe GM built the metal cabinet, and they got all the "guts" from Amana. That is a cool rare find! I love old collectible GM stuff, it was amazing all the cool things they made back in the day!

Magnovox automatic record console - Free to good home

I've got an almost identical model :) The one I have though has an AM/FM tuner in it though, but it's the exact same cabinet, but with a redder looking finish to the wood, and a little more modern appearance. It's a great sounding stereo!
