I was wondering if anyone on here has an older model Frigidaire microwave oven. If you do, could you post pics of your unit? I have always been facinated by the Frigidaires because of how rare their countertop ovens were.

Sure thing!

Picked the unit up this past Summer. Had sat on C-list for months and months and the price kept going down and down. Finally arranged to have the owner drop it off at Don's house, and I picked it up a few weeks later. A gift to Cory's ever growing Radarange collection!

I think this is a 1977/1978 model. In case you didn't know they were sourced through Amana - thus the many familiarities to the RR-9.

Cool, thanks for the pics Ben!! I have never seen a Frigidaire that old before. My high school used to have one from the 80's, and man I would kill to get it now :) It was a small unit, with a very thin cabinet, and timer knob controls. I wish these were still available.

Looks like the controlling electronics are all Amana too... just re-arranged a bit. I suspect maybe GM built the metal cabinet, and they got all the "guts" from Amana. That is a cool rare find! I love old collectible GM stuff, it was amazing all the cool things they made back in the day!

I really think these were actually made by Amana with the GM trimmings added right there alongside Touchmatics. The back of the machines are identical; even the model tag screams Amana, along with the factory stamped date of MFG on the inspection sticker.

Even though this unit was made a little earlier, I think that Amana decided that the styling was actually really good on these that they started using a similar version on the RRL line.

Ben
