In reference to Dan's earlier post about a hint of sourness when removing his dark towels from the washer, I see very little mention of people using ammonia as a deodorizer.     I've included a link to an old AW thread from 2015 where ammonia usage was discussed at length...

Wash with detergent and ammonia & line dry, if possible.  Turn them inside out before washing to prevent fading, if desired.

With maybe one or two exceptions, all of the appliance dealers in my area haul away the old appliance(s) after the new one is installed.  And at no extra charge, although I'm sure it's already been figured into the price.

I was very happy to hear from Don that so many people are enjoying the Wausau detergent.

It was 30°F with the windchill in the teens yesterday and 20-30 mph winds, but I did manage to at least line dry our bedsheets.  They smelled so heavenly when I got into bed last night. Everything looks quite wind whipped because of the strong gusts we had all day. 

I'm curious if anyone in this group has either the wringer machine or the semi-automatic shown in the ad.  I'm guessing they're pretty rare birds.  If you do, could you please tell us about their performance?

So has Sears Ultra-Plus detergent disappeared from the market for good?  

If they're both working as good as you say then there would be no need to replace the current compressors with more "efficient" modern ones.  It will still take the same amount of electricity to cool those spaces.  Replacing a compressor is also kind of a PITA.
