What Is Your Preferred Detergent of Choice?

petek, you are spot on 100%. I bought a small bottle of Arm & Hammer Clean Burst to try and saw a difference in cleaning and overall look to the clothes. The scent is not too bad though a bit strong for my taste, but I think it needs 2 rinses anyway as it did foam up a lot but that would knock the scent down some. I particularly noticed the cleaning on light kitchen towels and on a load of darks, jeans. I didn’t think it would be noticeable, but was proven wrong. Persil cleans circles around A&H. All Free & Clear cleans better, esp for a MOL detergent. I’m sticking with Persil Pro Clean after I use up this bottle.

Mark, what about Cheer ColorGuard powder? Years ago I used to use it and it did pretty good at that time.  I quit using it as it suds pretty bad and got tired of having to run a 2nd rinse all the time. They have since reformulated it I heard, to be lower sudsing.  The scent was light, but pleasant. A few weeks ago I bought the liquid and was deeply disappointed in cleaning, but I suspect the water out here had a lot to do with it. 

Also, what about one of the Mexican detergents?

Full load with 10 (ten) tablespoons Cheer Ultra Stay Colorful™ powder + 5 (five) tablespoons Biz powder + 2 (two) tablespoons STPP.  Scant bubbles during the concentrated Eco Active treatment, nothing during the agitated wash.

You wouln`t believe how many tablespoons of concentrated dish soap like Dawn it takes just to get some suds in the Miele when doing loads with high oil content.
Have been using DS with good results in the prewash lately to get away with only one pre measured tab which I got for free and had to be used up.

Couldn`t tell which is my favorite detergent, I love them all and I think it doesn`t hurt to change frequently because what one leaves behind another one might get.

My favorite is definitely Liquid Laundersol. It clearly must be as i bother buying it in the big bucket! I like adding some Sodium Percarbonate, some like OxyClean, but I like just using the oxy part and skipping the rest… I also don’t care for fabric softener at all, and my eczema has even less use for it, but I’ve gotten pretty big on using vinegar instead. It not only removes anything that will set off my skin but makes everything so soft!

I recommend the Cheer powder too. Though, I have had better success with Tide Mountain Spring powder. Better cleaning performance and a killer scent, though not strong after drying. Plus your Duet still has a higher water level to remove a bit more detergent.

ditto on the vinegar. you'd think it would leave clothes smelling like vinegar but no - just a nice fresh odor, maybe a hint of detergent fragrance. we use it when washing towels.

Not a Preference, But What I Am Using Now

I usually just buy what's on sale. But, currently, I am using A&H with Oxi powder. I love the retro scent: it is not flowery, and reminds one of the old powders way back when such as Cheer, or Tide Intensified.

When washing whites, I put in an extra scoop of Oxi-Clean from a tub I have left over from before the A&H.

After viewing this thread, however, I have taken note of what everyone is using for their darks and blacks. I am not pleased with how mine so quickly and easily fade.

I have really sensitive skin and it does not bother me, My neighbor gave me some Kirkland pods, In a week i was in the doctors office getting a Kenalog shot to get rid of the head to toe rash

I'm the same way with detergent, depending on how my clothes are washed, and in what, my skin can really break out, or just feel dry and scratchy. discovering this had made me a lot more comfortable.

Tide pods for the colors and recently mountain spring tide powder for whites. Will probably just stick with tide from now on, tired of gain, but may try cheer powder sometime.
