    Kenmore 90 Electronic Set

CONGRATS!! Hope you have fun with them. Looks like the electronic controls on them hold up well over the years. Those Whirlpool-built, Kenmore-badged washers and dryers from the 90's are truly workhorses! We had a matching pair from about 1992 with manual controls. Repairman looked at the dryer...

Who was the largest and most advanced technologically in your opinion?

Whirlpool fan Not sure when the mid-90's Whirlpool washer and dryers were designed that we've had for 25+ were designed; branded Kenmore. The washer esp. is a workhorse. Great turnover even with FULL loads. Clothes really get clean. When the dryer needed repair, the serviceman said, buy a new...

Frigidaire Custom Imperial: Model Number RCIE 75L

Good call, John... I had forgotten. Both doors were equal and swung down... https://www.automaticwasher.org/TD/JPEG/SHP/2014/ovrphil++4-28-2014-11-23-24.jpg

Frigidaire Custom Imperial: Model Number RCIE 75L

Had the 1969 model Interesting to see this. It is a great stove; hope you can save it. Our 1969 Fr. Custom Imperial 40" had a large oven and a smaller oven with side hinged door. We didn't look too hard for parts, instead replaced it with a mid-2000's 40" Frigidaire with NO bells or whistles...

    Kitchen Exhaust Fan, circa 1953

Ta DAAAAA.... Hardly perfect, but it looks pretty good. The ammonia just ate that grease away. A bit of careful scraping , and a light touch with a Brillo pad removed the old paint. As for the crud on the interior of the fan housing, I'll leave that to someone with more fortitude than me...

    Kitchen Exhaust Fan, circa 1953

Soaking as we speak... WHEW! Forgot how strong smelling ammonia can be... It is soaking in a bag in the laundry tub as we speak. Seems to be dissolving the crud nicely... The medallion is affixed to the screw that holds the grille up; looks to be aluminum with red paint vinegar and dish...

    Kitchen Exhaust Fan, circa 1953

Thanks, folks! I might try the ammonia first; think we have some of that on hand. Yeah, John L., I was concerned harsh cleaners might damage the logo. I'll try some vinegar and/or dishsoap with a toothbrush on that. Duane

    Kitchen Exhaust Fan, circa 1953

Hey folks, We just redid our kitchen; but kept the ol' circa 1953 Signal Exhaust Fan. It still works pretty well after nearly 70 years! The orig. circular grille though is encrusted with that many years of grease, etc. Tried to replace it with a newer, white one, but the bars holding the new...

New Tide Ad Stars Gay Couple

Cargo shorts... Great commercial! BUT, have to disagree with the cargo shorts being a mistake. They are the gay man's purse equivalent! Where else are you going to put the smart phone, wallet, etc.?

and what makes it greater --- it's all Kelvinator, most modern, most youthful, most new

What's interesting... The pic Danemodsandy posted is exactly our Frigidaire bought from Sears about 6 years ago. Works fine, but certainly isn't nearly as sturdy as the 1969 Frig. Cust. Imp. it replaced. The bottom storage drawer has never pulled in and out smoothly; built of lighter metal more...

    Thanks for the input, folks!!

    Sunbeam Mixmaster.

I was just given a early 80's Mixmaster, which was never used. Plugged it in, just hums, beaters do not turn.... Can anything be done with it, or is it toast? My partner's sister was given it as a wedding gift in 1980 (on left); tucked it away, never even took it out of the box! Strangely, it...

    POD 11-9-13 NORGE

Thanks folks! Sort of suspected they were NOT the most reliable machines out there... Cool concept, but sounds like the technology couldn't support the idea.

Does anyone have one of these? Are the various dispensers still working after all these years? Seems so complex and thus fraught with mechanical issues. Curious...

UK survey: single men don't change bed sheets

Usually every week, but once in awhile it stretches to 2. But it is just us, no pets, and we generally shower daily, me usually in the eve. Of course, extra-curricular activities do rate fresh sheets, but we have found strategically placed towels can avoid an early change. Mattress pads, every...

Ohhhhhhhhhhh Luuuuucy !!!!! (I think) and other Goodies

Frigidaire Custom Imperial Wow! The 40" range looks quite similar to the 1969 we had EXCEPT that ours did not have equal ovens. Instead, a wider self-cleaning one on the right, and a smaller, non s-c on the left. So, I have to assume this must be a year or 2 earlier... Anyone know when...
