    My Summer: Adventures in Cooking

Here's the chicken browning in a mixture of butter and olive oil in the dutch oven. It's not fully cooked yet so the inside is still raw.

    My Summer: Adventures in Cooking

I had some of my friends over last week for a game day and I cooked/baked for them: Cheese straws for appetizers Spinach in Puff Pastry Chicken w/40 Cloves of Garlic Fetuccine Alfredo Of course I only have so many hands and so much room on the cooktop and countertop, so that day it wasn't a...

    My Summer: Adventures in Cooking

So now being almost halfway through my summer vacation, I just wanted to share with you guys what I have been doing these past four weeks at home, and what I'll be doing in the next 4 weeks to come. This summer I decided that instead of sleeping, watching TV and eating leftovers or frozen meals...

    my new Apple Mac computer

True, but I still think that's kind of overkill, considering that I would never be able to fill it all up unless I was a professional photographer/filmmaker shooting in RAW and uncompressed audio and HD video. Plus, I would never put all of my important data on any 1TB drive unless it was backed...

    my new Apple Mac computer

Sorry, but that hurt my eyes reading that. No 14 year old "needs" a Mac Pro with a 30" Cinema HD Display and 4TB of storage for school. I got by making movies for school using the school's eMac and got all A's on my projects :) That being said, I'm pretty happy with my iMac. Good luck with your...

    Cleaning Glass Top Electric Stoves

I use the creamy stuff from Sears and a damp paper towel and a small scraper if needed, and mine looks and feels just as good as the day we bought it. If the stain doesn't come off right away I apply a thin layer of the cream with a damp paper towel then let it sit for a few minutes. After, I...

do you know what brand all of your "stuff" is?

If I bought it or was involved in buying it, then I know the brand name, and sometimes the model number if it's not ridiculously long or complicated. Here's what I have, or use on a regular basis. Kitchen: Sakura Range Hood R-727 Kenmore Glass-Top Range (Frigidaire made) Kenmore Fridge...

What if Microsoft made a washer?

You would have to click "OK" then "Are you sure?" every time you wanted to change a setting. Oh, and you would have to buy a 3rd party "Clean washer" cycle.

    24 freaking inches

I love the new keyboard, and I already have a 750GB LaCie d2 Quadra on order already. I was going to get Time Capsule because my brother also has a Mac, but we already have an Airport Extreme and I read the backups are painfully slow to do and to restore from, so I decided that mounting a hard...

    24 freaking inches

I was going to post this in Jason's thread, but I decided not to hijack it at the last minute. I have never had good luck with Dells (or Windows, for that matter). My old one had the hard drive crash a few years ago (lost everything), then a month ago my newer Dell had the RAM fry while I was...

    Your opinion on Smart Cars?

Maybach is Mercedes' answer to BMW's Rolls Royce, but it's basically a souped-up S-Class. Pretty nice nonetheless. I've seen tons of Smart cars here in Toronto, and I saw even more when I was in Quebec a couple of years ago. I like the concept of the Smart car, but I'm not really not fond with...

    Kenmore Oasis Washer

It's the timer. You can't adjust the water level on this machine unless you fill it manually or through other methods

    New Cabrio 6200 - A few questions

    1. Unless your water temp is really hot, then I don't believe there will be a problem in the long term 2. I have overridden the lid switch many times before and it still operates and locks fine 3. Use the seam where the top of the washer meets with the cabinet to find the level

the only thing worse than finding a worm in your apple is

They had a gamers thing set up with a bunch of game consoles in our school today. The XBox (hooked up to a projector for 150 inches of low-def goodness) got the BSoD when they started it up.

Well, it's not a Dyson 2-Drum, but it's just as if not more interesting!!!

funguy10 Dude, why don't you upload some vids of your appliances too? It's not that hard, but in my case, it also wasn't that easy doing videos of my Oasis HE with the top up, so appreciate what people do here and don't ask for more when they've already done so much. A forum is basically a...

Plastic fell on dishwasher element and melted

I just checked a couple of minutes ago and it looks like the last bits of plastic were heated up so many times that they just flaked off. Hopefully the smell goes away now.

Plastic fell on dishwasher element and melted

Do you mean off the element itself or the tub? The interior is stainless. There are only traces of it left on the element, but it still has the smell every time the element is on.

Plastic fell on dishwasher element and melted

I don't know exactly how this happened, but earlier this week before I went to bed I went to the kitchen and realized there was this burning smell. I tracked it to the dishwasher (Kenmore 1st gen Turbozone). I pulled out the bottom rack and saw my plastic-like Ikea whisk had fallen on the...

Uncle Joe's fun with electromagnetic energy in the kitchen

She wasn't completely lying though. The All-Clad Stainless series is the only model of All-Clad cookware that is induction-compatible. She may have been ripping you off, but not completely lying. I wouldn't mind an All-Clad set if I had the money though. It just looks so damn nice! It feels...
