    Speed Queen front loader walking

When living in our last home we bought Maytag (Samsung) front load washer and dryer. These replaced our Frigidaire front loads which we loved. We thought they were damaged when we moved in the house because the Frigidaire shook violently which it never did in our old house. Had repair man out...

    Estate sales and yard sales

I agree you have to get to estate sales early Cole. We are retired now but that doesn't stop us from sleeping in sometimes. We also use Estatesales.net. They are good if the sale company posts good pictures and descriptions. We have got to know a couple of the companies and they are good to us...

    Vanilla

We mostly use imitation vanilla in most baked goods where you really wouldn't know the difference. In rolled sugar cookies, cut outs, frostings, shortbread you want the real deal so we have been buying Watkins at Walmart. My mom taught me many moons ago to double up on imitation and use exact...

    Reverse Creaming

Eddie, Your cake looks so good. I love home made cakes and spend time trying different recipes. I will try this one this weekend. I am eating less and mostly good quality food and things I want in moderation. I have lost 12 lbs in the past couple of months. My mother always said its not...

    Venting vintage gas oven question

Here is some interesting reading on Carbon Monoxide Poisoning: Gas-fired Kitchen Ranges. I think older gas stoves were vented out because you could not regulate the ovens. They didn't have thermostats and people forgot to turn them off which concentrated the carbon monoxide in the house. My dads...

    Air drying

Stan, that brings back some good memories. In 1964 my dad and step mom moved to Napa. I would come up in the summers to the beautiful valley. In those days the air was fresh and clear and water was very soft. My step mom had a old amp maytag and she would wash with tide and bleach. I can...

    My 2nd segment on Australian TV.....take 2

Wonderful show. Your collection is great. I see a lot of American machines. Were top loaders the norm mid century rather than front loader machines. Dano

The final "nail" in the Maytag Neptune coffin

We bought one of these machines Nov 2005. On the normal cycle with towels or rugs it takes forever to go in to the high speed spin. It will kick back and fill with water and rinse again. I would go cancel the cycle and then put it to spin only and it would go right in to the spin. The lower...

Anyone else ever used one of these for Angel Cake??

If you have any grease or oil in the pan, mixing bowl or utensils the cake will most likely go flat. It pops the air incorporated in to the egg whites. Paul, your cake looks great. Yum. Angel food is one of my favorites and actually low calorie.

So the New Collection Begins Today

Hi Todd, Good find with the Maytag 806. They have always been a favorite of mine. I still like KM/WP for sound changes etc. Maytags are very quiet machines. I know you will enjoy it. The only washer I have left from all that I collected over the years is my Maytag 806. I can't quite part...

    Slowly making progress...

Hi Todd, You have some beautiful sets there. I especially like all of the turquoise sets. The white Kenmores are beautiful too. Your laundry is nice and sunny with lots of windows. I no longer collect but I am happy to see there are still collectors who restore, maintain and have fun with their...
