Two stunning washers for my twinnie collection

Hello everyone out there everywhere on AW ! Hope everybody is doing well. Since my last find (late in Feb 2020, an A50 - see link), there was the crossing of a desert amidst this pandemic: virtually nothing on kijiji, with also no significant numbers of interesting items either from ebay or...

So June is Maytag A50 month?

Congratulations! Great find. I bought one, late in February, which I now use for small laundry loads - i wash bigger loads in our large Maytag (Whirlpool) MATPD-14 top load commercial washer. When i got mine's, it had the belt in place but it was in extremely bad shape. I searched for a brand...

    Fridgette Washer

Cool twin tub ! And, btw, much like vintage Sanyo models of the era. (I bought one quite a few years ago, japanese Sanyo, sold by Sears under the name Kenmore - ref.: link below) https://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?61419

    Where’s Laundtess?

I join my voice to say ... ... i'm glad you're OK, Launderess ... Very weird and troubled times we're all in now. Yes, very worried hearing about what's goin' on everywhere. NYC (as do many other towns or cities) just like a war zone ! So sad to hear that story, yesterday, on the news (see...

    Hoover Twin tub

Ho! Yes, Austin, think, at least here in Canada, never seen one with the heater and, most probably, none of the US models as well.

    Hoover Twin tub

If only ... ... I were living closer to that beauty ... ... I could have grabbed it ! Model 0513 - what a particular mix of the white and coppertone ! Interesting also to note the date scribbled on the users guide ... And, the unusual bottom of that spin basket with a new design making it...

    New user from Ireland

Welcome to the forum, Peter ! Hope you enjoy sharing in here and exchanging with others your experiences and remembrances. I am particularly interested in old Hoover washers, mostly twin tub types. Must have been quite a thrill, that 'Aladdin's cave' full of spare parts...! : )

Time to Work on the Maytag!

That A606 ... ...is one gorgeous looking appliance ! Yes, indeed, the right time -right now- to do things indoor we usually, too often, don't do because we run short of time. This actual period, all warned to stay home, might be the good time to bring out the tool boxes, etc. and 'go for it'...

    British Twintub Washing Machines 1959 - 1990

Thank you, Keith, for sharing Ah, yes, pretty much the same thing as ours--including the drain tube out from the rear of the machines instead of top.

    British Twintub Washing Machines 1959 - 1990

Like very much the display of colours of those various wash tubs ! : ) Here are pics of two my own machines: Canadian-made offsprings of UK Hoovermatics, models 0610 instructions brochure & 0632 rinse-o-matic 'washdog', auto rinse, metal tub

    British Twintub Washing Machines 1959 - 1990

Mike, as far as i know, there were absolutely no heater models in the various twintubs right here in North America. [Only some of the models of UK or Australia ??] That is probably one of the reasons we had some plastic (poly-) tubs models whereas in the UK there were none. That being said, i...

    British Twintub Washing Machines 1959 - 1990

Ah, yes, Chester Mike, the Simplicity twinnie has an two speed four-vane agitator, whereas most Speed Queen twin tubs are only 1 speed. Regarding the belt fitted to the Maytag motor-impellers, the original was indeed a round belt. However, the V belt described above fits like a glove and gives...

    British Twintub Washing Machines 1959 - 1990

Hey, Mike, you are quite right when you say the Servis-SQ-Simplicity are 'The Rolls Royce of twinnys' ! I've had (and used) a Simp Supertwin which definately was impressive, both in terms of washing efficiency and spin speed, while still being very quiet. I only use, from time to time, my...

Maytag Coin-Op Units - Some Retro

Launderess, it is much like a little treasure throve... The Maytag coin-op auto unit on the first image looks quite a lot like an old GE coin-op auto washer we used to have here, in my apt block, several years ago. These were very good, well-built machines. The gold set is, yes, truly amazing!
